Michael Steele has and continues to beg the question: How did he get his job? The better question is: How has he been able to stay in it as long as he has? To say he is an inartful speaker would be kind and all too gentle. He is supposed to be the national spokesman for one the two major parties in America; this is not some small time operation. Unfortunately, I cannot honestly review his chairmanship and think anything except Steele is there because of the color of his skin, which if true, just plain stinks! It is bad enough that one party engages fully in ID politics, but both? How is America going to survive if there is not a viable party defending the fundamental principles? Side note: The civil rights movement, before i t was taken over by race hustlers (Sharpton/Jackson), was about hiring people based on their qualifications, not their pigmentation.
Steele’s proclivity for being out of sync with the party platform is only trumped by his seeming arrogance e.g. saying abortion is an individual’s choice and handling of election wins along with party scandals, respectively. The truth is: I don’t know what he believes; I get the idea he is looking to gain favor with whatever audience he is communicating with at the time. How are you ever going to persuade someone your party’s platform embodies the right solutions if you don’t believe in them or worse yet, understand them? The RNC can elect the chairman of their choosing. However, they should not be afraid of voting for someone who is qualified and capable; Michael Steele is neither.
