Bryan Fischer: The face of evil: hatred of Palin irrational, mindless, demonic

By Bryan Fischer

“Whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” ~ 1 John 2:11

The shootings in Arizona have triggered (note unapologetic martial metaphor) the release of a torrent of vitriol targeted (martial metaphor) at Sarah Palin, the likes of which I have rarely if ever seen.

The hatred directed at her is mindless, it is baseless, it is utterly irrational, and it is disturbing to an alarming degree. When we look into the face of the unvarnished and seething meanness focused on Ms. Palin, we are looking into the face of evil. We are looking into the face of Satan himself, who is the ultimate source of this vitriol and toxic hate.

We are witnessing unvarnished demonic evil on full display, without decoration, without refinement, without cover. It does not even pretend to be anything other than pure homicidal rage and hate.

Tweets were posted immediately and furiously in the wake of the scurrilous and unfounded charges that Sarah Palin is to blame for last Saturday’s shootings in Arizona. Someone captured screen shots of many of these Tweets and turned them into a YouTube ready slideshow.

I have reproduced many of these messages below, and I urge you to read them in all their sickening bile. It shows us what we are up against in our civil war over cultural values, and reveals the malicious invective that is constantly directed at Ms. Palin and her family.

For those of us who believe in the existence of Satan, as Christ clearly did, then this is a sobering reminder that we battle not just against flesh and blood, as the apostle reminds us in Ephesians 6, but against the “spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12).

The apostle John says that “the whole world likes in the power of the evil one” (1 John 5:19). What you will read below is a chilling reminder of the truth of that statement.

There is something supernaturally inhuman about the ugly hatred expressed in the messages you will read below. Read them you must, and if you are a follower of Christ, pray a prayer of spiritual protection over Sarah Palin and her family when you finish.  Warning:  the messages below contain graphic language and suggestions of violence.

(You can view the YouTube video here. Tweets have been reproduced accurately below, including spelling and punctuation.)

“Sarah Palin is f******* disgusting. Are you f****** kidding me??? … This dumba** should shoot her f****** self.”

If you’d like to pray a prayer of spiritual protection for Sarah Palin and her family, here is one you can use.

“Father, I bring Sarah Palin and her family before you this day. You see the hatred that is directed at her and the curses that have been spoken against her. We speak the truth over her life that Christ died in her place and became a curse for her when he hung on the tree. We transfer the power of every curse that has been uttered against her to the cross of Christ and declare that their power over her life and family is broken, invalidated, and nullified. May the evil that others have intended against instead return on their own heads. In place of the curse, we speak a blessing over her life and the life of her family in Jesus’ name. May she and her family know the full measure of the love, joy and peace of your Holy Spirit. We ask you to protect her and her family from all evil and we ask you to fulfill every purpose you have for her life through the power of your Spirit. It is in Jesus’ name that we pray. Amen.”
