The Bottom Line on Prince (Not William)
Monday, June 27, 2011 1:10 PM

Don't you just love it when celebrities weigh in on socio-political issues? Such as Dave Matthews and the environment, or actresses who participate in immoral PETA shoots, or any other cause de jour that might be out there these days.

Well add another to the list: Prince

The guy who once had a symbol as his name has decided to weigh in on the issue of Islam, and I think to date he takes the cake for the most ignorant statement yet:

"It's fun being in Islamic countries, to know there's only one religion. There's order. You wear a burqa. There's no choice,” he told British newspaper, The Guardian, “People are happy with that.”

Fun? Happy? These are not adjectives that I place side by side with Islam these days. First of all, forcing someone to wear something that covers their entire face under penalty of pain/death/rape isn't something I would say is fun, and I'm sure that the women who have had said punishments enforced on them would agree.

Oppressing women's rights isn't something I'd call fun.

Continuing on:

"When asked how he would respond to those who don’t like donning the burqa, Prince reportedly said "there are people who are unhappy with everything. There's a dark side to everything."

So their just a bunch of complainers? That's it huh?

Prince needs to wake up and smell the truth, that things are NOT "fun" in Muslim countries.

I bet the 8 year old girl who was coerced into delivering a bag of bombs to a police station where she was killed in the explosion of said bombs thought it was all in "FUN".

Or what about the Christians in Egypt who are having their homes burned down are having a grand ole time, eh Prince?

If you like it so much, why don't you go and live there and see how long it takes before your opinion changes, or it's changed for you.
