TBL: Richard Dawkins - A Smart Guy who Tells Dumb Lies
Richard Dawkins, a well known avowed atheist, author, and speaker has finally gone over the deep end with his war against Christianity. He has come out and made some very steep claims against the current and some former Presidents of the United States.
He has claimed that based on their intellect Presidents Lincoln, Kennedy, Clinton, and President Obama may have well been atheists.
He has stated that because they are so smart, that they couldn't possibly have believed in God. I guess that makes me dumb.
Well Mr. Dawkins, this dumb guy, he knows how to read.
And read I did, on previous writings of Presidents Lincoln, Kennedy, and Clinton. The book I have was written before Obama's writings have been fully published concerning this area.
I have a book on my shelf called "Prayers and Presidents", written by a man named William J. Federer (www.amerisearch.net). Mr. Federer is a well written and high educated man, whose books are so chock full of useful information, that I say he is the only man I know that writes encyclopedias. In this book I found several prayers, speeches, and writings from Presidents Lincoln, Kennedy, and Clinton, that would very much disprove Mr. Dawkins claims that they were "probably atheists". Here are just a few examples.
Aug 15, 1846, Illinois Gazette
"I have never denied the truth of the Scriptures…I do not think think I could, myself, be brought to support a man for office whom I knew to be an open enemy of, and scoffer at religion."
March 4, 1861, 1st Inaugural
"Intelligence, patriotism, Christianity, and a firm reliance on Him who has never yet forsaken this favored land, are still competent to adjust in the best way all our present difficulty."
JOHN F. KENNEDY
Sept. 28, 9161, National Day of Prayer Proclamation
"Recognizing our own shortcomings may we be granted forgiveness and cleansing, that God shall bless us and be gracious unto us, and cause His face to shine upon us as we stand everyone of us on this day in His Presence.
March 1, 1962, 10th Annual Presidential Prayer Breakfast (QUOTING LINCOLN! DOUBLE WORD SCORE)
"There is a quotation from Lincoln which I think is particularly applicable today. He said, 'I believe there is a God. I see the storm coming, and I believe He has a hand in it. If He has a part and a place for me, I believe I am ready.'"
Oct. 23, 1993, 200th Anniversary of Capitol
"The hope sill endures that in this country every man and woman without regard to race or religion or station in life would have the freedom to live up to the fullest of his or her God-given potential…that every citizen would get from government not a guarantee but the promise of an opportunity…to have an equal chance, for the most humble and the most well born, to do what God meant for them to be able to do.
Nov. 27, 1993, Radio Address
"My family celebrated Thanksgiving as most American families did. We gathered around a table filled with the bounty of our great country, and we thanked the Lord for all we have and all we can hope for."
Mr. Dawkins, these are but a few examples of the pages and pages filled with not only these mens writings, but other Presidents as well. Your assumption that somehow because they are "intelligent" that they are atheists shows that you are making either an ignorant or intentional misrepresentation of these men. Shame on you for spending your life trying to disprove the "lie of religion" when you yourself life ABOUT religion.
