The American Family Association today called for the resignation of Kevin Jennings, the head of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools in the Department of Education.
“This man is not a good role model for the nation’s children, nor will he fairly represent all Americans due to his spiteful attitude toward evangelical Christians,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon.
Jennings is the founder of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which actively advances a radical homosexual agenda in America’s public school system under the guise of promoting anti-bullying policies. He has written the forward to a book, Queering Elementary Education, which promotes homosexual ideology even in elementary school.
Jennings has also recounted the story of a young teenage boy who confided in him about having sex with an adult male. Rather than reporting an incident of statutory rape, Jennings merely counseled him to “use a condom” in his next sexual encounter with the man.
Jennings has also been contemptuous of evangelical Christians, using language that AFA refuses to repeat.
“Are we to believe Kevin Jennings will fairly treat Christians who believe homosexuality is wrong?” Wildmon asked. “Students of faith will hardly be safe from bullying and intimidation in any school that listens to him. It’s time for the Obama administration to demand his resignation.”
Rep. Steve King of Iowa yesterday became the first Congressman to call for Jennings to step down. The AFA this week also sent out an Action Alert to its 2.6 million-member network urging them to contact both Arne Duncan, the Secretary of Education, and their own elected officials to challenge them to call for Jennings’s resignation.
