AFA Action Alert!Legislative Alert! Help put national motto in every Colorado classroom!Special Colorado Edition!Your help is urgently needed. Please take action, then forward this email to all your Colorado friends!January 31, 2003 The Colorado House Committee on State, Veterans, & Military Affairs is expected to meet next Wednesday to decide if our national motto "In God We Trust" should be publicly displayed in Colorado's public school classrooms. Representative Debbie Stafford has proposed House Bill 1128 (HB 1128) (pdf format) in the 2003 legislative session. If passed, HB 1128 will require the posting of our national motto in every public building and in each public school classroom in Colorado. Representative Stafford believes Colorado's children should be reminded of the historical centrality of God in the life of our republic. These words are legally sound, since they were officially adopted by Congress in 1956. Additionally, the U.S. Congress passed a resolution on July 24, 2000, strongly encouraging the posting of the motto in public buildings, including classrooms! All seven U.S. Representatives from Colorado voted in favor of this resolution! We already know liberal groups like the ACLU will be pressing the committee to reject this bill. We think their standard fear tactics like "separation of church and state" might persuade members to believe their false accusations. The truth is, four states have already passed a similar bill, and the ACLU has readily admitted they can't do any thing about it. But still, they will try. We must make our voice heard too! Please contact them today!
