AFA provides a simple way for you to file an indecency complaint with the FCC
March 25, 2002
ABC has once again broken an Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulated broadcast barrier for network television. On March 12, ABC’s primetime drama “Philly” broadcast a scene using FCC banned “sexual or excretory organs or activities.”
In the course of the program, Maguire, a defense attorney, in a heated argument with an assistant district attorney who yells at her, "There's no way I'm gonna stand up in open court with my d--k in my hand while your [client] walks out the door!"
Randall Murphree, editor of the American Family Association (AFA) Journal, has monitored network television for almost 20 years. He says, “The FCC is failing to enforce regulations, thus, the networks are getting increasingly bolder with their use of
offensive content and language.”
Under FCC rules, “Whoever utters any obscene, indecent, or profane language by means of radio communications shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.”
The FCC has failed to take action against television stations in the past 20 years, but recent public outcry, and with the support of a single pro-family FCC Commissioner, Michael Copps, the FCC is beginning to feel pressure regarding enforcement procedures.
