The Atlanta Braves are hosting a gay and lesbian organization at tonight's game against the Houston Astros.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) reports that Braves spokesman Jim Schultz said, "It started as a business decision more than anything," Schultz said. The Atlanta Games Inc. Night will showcase the group trying to bring the world back here, this time for the 2006 Gay Games. "It would be foolish not to try and get something like this."

Atlanta business and city leaders are making welcome a two-member site selection committee in hopes of winning what's known as the gay Olympics. If they suceed and Atlanta is chosen, the economic windfall could reach $500 million.

According to AJC, "At the Braves game tonight, the games officials will watch from luxury suites along with 100 VIP hosts. Another 3,000 supporters will take up a section of the upper deck, while the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus sings the National Anthem for the 7:05 p.m. game."

The recognition has turned off some fans. One letter writer to AJC said she would never attend another Braves game because she believes homosexuality is a sin. "It makes me sick to my stomach that the Braves organization has become a part of the brainwashing of society," Sally Raburn of Atlanta said. However, Atlanta Games co-president Margie Archer said her hat is off to the Braves. "The Braves have made a stand, the city has made a stand, the corporations have made a stand, the people of Atlanta have made a stand," Archer said.

ACTION NEEDED

Please contact Atlanta Braves spokesman Jim Schultz and politely ask him what baseball - one of America's favorite institutions - has to do with homosexuality? Of course, the obvious answer is... NOTHING! The Atlanta Braves have no business affirming and normalizing a lifestyle that would have devastating effects on the lives of young and old who enter that lifestyle.

Politely advise Mr. Schultz to leave homosexuality out of the game of baseball.
