AFA Action Alert - 10/10/01
Pro Life Action Needed
Help Protect Teens!
October 10, 2001
Lawmakers are still working to include pro-family policies in the spending bill for the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education departments -- and they need your help.
During a meeting of the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, Rep. David Vitter, R-La., tried unsuccessfully to offer his amendment to deny funding for abortion providers. Yet, pro-family congressmen will try to increase funding for abstinence programs and stop distribution of "morning after" pills in public schools, when the full House takes up the bill -- possibly as early as tomorrow (Thursday).
ACTION NEEDED
Contact your House representative IMMEDIATELY and urge him or her to:
1) support the Istook amendment, which will increase funding for abstinence-education programs; and
2) support the Hart amendment banning federal funds to
schools if they distribute "morning after" pills to students in public schools.
Call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121, or point your browser here for contact information.
