Tupelo, MS - American Family Association spokesperson Ed Vitagliano issued the following statement today regarding We Are Family Foundation (WAFF):
“The DVD music video ‘We Are Family,' which will be sent to 61,000 elementary schools across the nation, carries a positive message of tolerance and respect for differences. However, the Website of the We Are Family Foundation (WAFF) contains elements that promote the acceptance of homosexuality, including a recommended reading list with such children's books as ‘Heather Has Two Mommies' and ‘Daddy's Roommate.' Such selections may be problematic for parents who do not believe homosexuality should be normalized.
“Also of potential concern is the teacher's guide, which will be sent along with the DVD to schools. According to the WAFF Website, it will be produced by the Anti-Defamation League, which is responsible for providing other pro-homosexual content for the WAFF site, including the above-mentioned reading list.
“AFA believes that parents should be aware that their children may be exposed to the presentation of homosexuality as a normal, natural and healthy lifestyle. Schools should not present such teachings – especially to children at the elementary school level – without parental knowledge and approval.”
