Over 250,000 emails sent to Commissioners, members of Congress.
TUPELO, MS - Within 36 hours of MTV’s stunt during Sunday night’s CBS broadcast of the Super Bowl half-time show, over 30,000 have printed formal complaint letters to the Federal Communications Commission.
“We have a constant stream of thousands of people on our website wanting to file a formal complaint letter against CBS and their stations,” says American Family Association (AFA) Chairman Don Wildmon. The website, www.afa.net, provides an online form that instantly allows visitors to print the official document from their home computer system.
In addition, Wildmon says over 250,000 emails have been sent to the five FCC commissioners and members of Congress since Monday afternoon. "People are very upset by CBS’s blatant disregard for broadcast indecency rules. They certainly aren’t buying CBS’s 'we didn’t know' line."
Wildmon is pleased by the initial response of FCC Chairman Michael Powell. "I have instructed the Commission to open an immediate investigation into [Sunday's] broadcast," Powell said in a statement released Monday. "Our investigation will be thorough and swift."
AFA will continue to encourage its OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com members to contact the FCC, asking them impose to fullest penalty allowed by law against each CBS station.
