TUPELO, MS - OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com have been notified by Sears that they have pulled an offensive TV commercial and it will no longer be shown. The ad featured three young boys playing a video game when a shapely blond walks in. One of the boys remarks, “She’s hot,” while another says “She’s a babe.” The blond gives the boys a very suggestive look. It turns out that she is the mother of the third boy.
“Our members found the ad to be offensive and suggestive, certainly not the kind of commercial we expect Sears to use,” said Donald E. Wildmon, president of OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com. “We appreciate the fact that Sears will no longer be running the ad,” he stated. Sears said they only ran the ad for a six-day period in January.
OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com have recently been successful in getting offensive commercials pulled by Dr Pepper/Seven-Up and Chrysler.
“Individuals who are disgusted with television now have an effective voice speaking with some influence,” Wildmon said. He indicated that other companies running offensive ads and sponsoring offensive programs will be targeted.
OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com can be found on the Internet. Membership is open to individuals even if they are not moms or dads, and membership is free.
