Engage Ministry Launches Radio Program Wesley Wildmon Director of Outreach MORE

Political candidates have campaigned hard to capture their votes. Churches have worked diligently to figure out what moves them spiritually. The sometimes-elusive generation of Millennials is an oft-studied group when it comes to the lives, values and priorities of these 20- and 30-year-olds.

In 2015, American Family Associationlaunched a new ministry called Engage, aiming to reach this passionate and influential generation. EngageMagazine.net shares the thoughts, beliefs and dreams of this generation. And now, Engage is debuting a new weekly radio program on American Family Radio this weekend.

“Engage Radio will be a place where the voices of faithful Millennials can be heard,” said Wesley Wildmon, who will co-host the 30-minute show along with Teddy James. “Our passionate, outspoken and active generation will truly be game-changers in our world, in politics, in churches, in education and in our communities. We hope to make amazing connections every week through Engage Radio.”

Wildmon and James, both lead communicators for Engage, will kick off the weekly program this Saturday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT. Each Saturday, the hosts will talk about timely topics in the first segment and welcome a guest for the second segment. The debut show this week will focus on how spouses can serve each other. Shows, heard on nearly 200 radio stations across the U.S. on the AFR network, will also be posted on the Engage web site, as well as on social media.

“As a Millennial myself, I realize that the worldview spoon-fed to Millennials is full of concepts and philosophies that ultimately leave us empty and still searching for fulfillment,” said James. “Each latest trend and fad is tried and found wanting. We are a generation skeptical of anything promising fulfillment but still optimistic enough to give it a chance. Our generation’s perspective is like a tangled web intertwining the supposed best ideas of modernism, postmodernism, Eastern mysticism, consumerism, and any other –ism that can be expressed behind a hashtag.”

The Millennial-driven site, EngageMagazine.net, exists to help this generation build their own worldview grounded in scripture and the truth of the gospel. Created by Millennials for Millennials, EngageMagazine.net is using the platform of AFA to reach their generation with the gospel and provide them with the tools necessary to build a biblical worldview for themselves and bring understanding and meaning to life in a fallen world.

“The work ahead of EngageMagazine.net is to deconstruct the worldview culture shoves toward us and build a new worldview that, in reality, is anything but new,” James added. “It finds its origins in Genesis and has been embraced and applied for thousands of years by great Christian minds. It is now our responsibility to press on, still expressing the unchanging truths of scripture, yet doing so in a way that resonates with our ever-changing world.”

James and Wildmon are part of a group that worked for 18 months to launch Engage. The team is made up of men and women from varying walks of life—some married, some single and some new parents—with different skill sets and passions.
