Keep Christ in Christmas

Probably more than any other ministry, AFA has worked to encourage businesses and individuals to keep Jesus in the forefront of the celebration of Christmas in America.

This year, I’m asking you to join us again in promoting the real reason for the season. It’s a simple and easy idea that I think you will like, but more on that in a moment.

I remember appearing on The O’Reilly Factor (Fox News Channel) 10 years ago to talk about this issue. AFA was spotlighting companies that were scrubbing any mention of the word Christmas from their store signage and advertising. Some even instructed their sales clerks not to say “Merry Christmas.”

The companies censored the use of Christmas because it contained Christ. At the same time, those businesses wanted to make money off the holiday. We thought that was disrespectful, to say the least, so we spoke out and encouraged Christians to wear a button that declared “It’s OK to Say Merry Christmas.”

Now, we don’t win every cultural battle, but over the years I can report to you that AFA has been very successful in convincing major corporations to reinstate the word Christmas in their holiday promotions.

You might ask why we think this is an important battle. Well, secular liberals in our nation are bent on minimizing and even removing any mention of Christianity from the public square. And no other time of the year reminds people of Jesus Christ and America’s Christian heritage more than the Christmas season.

For this reason, politically correct forces want to use their influence to distance our culture from anything – even Christmas – that would remind people of the Savior.

So, this Christmas season, I am asking our AFA family to stand for the Christian faith by wearing and sharing our new “Keep Christ in Christmas” wristband. These wristbands are great conversation starters. And since they are so inexpensive, you’ll want to give one to anyone who asks about them.

In fact, I want to send you a wristband absolutely free just for asking. Click here to request your free wristband. We also invite you to order more wristbands (at discounted prices) to share with your friends and family or even your entire church.

In 2007, AFA started its yearly campaign against “The War on Christmas.” We haven’t stopped. And we won’t.

Remember, “The War on Christmas” doesn’t exist in a vacuum. The larger context of this campaign is the attack against the Christian faith in our nation – and it is real.

Did you know that in September of this year, your federal government declared Christians to be heartless bigots who have twisted their own religion into a weapon of oppression?

That’s not an exaggeration. The Obama administration’s U.S. Commission on Civil Rights issued a report in which chairman Martin Castro said: “The phrases ‘religious liberty’ and ‘religious freedom’ … remain code words for discrimination, intolerance, racism, sexism, homophobia, Islamophobia, Christian supremacy, or any form of intolerance.”

The fact is secular humanists hate public expressions of the Christian faith. The Humanist Manifesto, one of the key declarations of principles penned by secular humanists in 1993, states: “[W]e consider the religious forms and ideas of our fathers no longer adequate.”

No wonder they don’t want the “religious form” of Christmas publicly honored!

That also explains Martin Castro’s additional statement in the civil rights commission report, when he said:

[T]oday, as in the past, religion is being used as both a weapon and a shield by those seeking to deny others equality. … This generation of Americans must stand up and speak out to ensure that religion never again be twisted to deny others the full promise of America.

How far we have fallen in America! But AFA is committed to fighting back against these forces that hate God and our Christian heritage.

President Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation on March 30, 1863, serves as both a vision and a warning for our nation:

[T]hose nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord. … [W]e know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisement in this world. … We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God.

It is never too late to do what is right if we are willing. We can use every opportunity – large and small – to proclaim the truth of Christianity. And that can start by wearing and sharing the “Keep Christ in Christmas” wristband.

If you are old enough, you may remember the bracelets first created in 1970 to remember the POWs in Vietnam. Or maybe you wear an armband or ribbon to show your support for a cause near your heart. Or maybe you declare your allegiance with a window sticker on your car.

Whatever the case, these small signs and symbols are memorable and encourage others to join in the effort.

So please click here to request your free “Keep Christ in Christmas” wristband. The Christmas season will be here soon, so act today.

And as you request your free wristband or order more, please remember that your prayers and financial contributions keep AFA in the battle to restore Christian values in America.

May God bless you and your family during this wonderful time of year as we celebrate the God who came to earth as a baby.
