Media's Agenda Trumps Truth

Media's Agenda Trumps Truth Walker Wildmon Assistant to the President MORE

Over the weekend, President Trump was lambasted for not calling out white supremacists by name just hours after one drove his car into a crowd in Charlottesville, Virginia  killing one and injuring nineteen.  The president rectified this the following Monday.

On Thursday, an Islamic supremacist drove his car into a crowd of pedestrians in Barcelona, Spain killing thirteen and injuring over eighty. Immediately I began searching for the same folks who criticized President Trump to see whether they called this attack for what it was. If President Trump was criticized for not immediately denouncing white supremacy, shouldn’t the media and politicians come out denouncing the Barcelona attack as Islamic supremacy? In a fair world, you’d think so.

As we know, this wasn’t the case. In the hours following the attack in Spain, the media, politicians, and Hollywood types simply called this a “terror attack.” There was no mention of the Islamic supremacy beliefs of the terrorist. In addition, in Paris last week a terrorist drove a car into a group of soldiers. In the days following this Islamic terror attack, many major media outlets are simply calling it a “terror” incident. I’m unaware of any major media outlet blaming the terror attack on “Islamic supremacy” even though we all know that that was the ideology behind this attack and many others across Europe and the United States.

After the Charlottesville attack, many Democrats and Republicans urged President Trump to call out white supremacists by name. Former Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush, tweeted, “I urge @POTUS to unite the country, not parse the assignment of blame for the events in Charlottesville.” California representative Ed Royce said, “The President needs to clearly and categorically reject white supremacists. No excuses. No ambiguity.” Kansas Senator Moran tweeted, “White supremacy, bigotry & racism have absolutely no place in our society & no one - especially POTUS - should ever tolerate it.” Many more Republicans, Democrats, and media talking heads repeated the same sentiment.

Where are these folks in decrying Islamic supremacy after the Barcelona attack? They’re utterly silent. To my knowledge and up until the time this blog was published, none of the individuals mentioned above had denounced Islamic supremacy as the ideology behind the Barcelona attack.

The reason they were quick to attack President Trump is because he is a common enemy among the media, Democrats, and establishment Republicans. They all want to see the president politically destroyed. These same people would never utter the words “Islamic supremacy” because they would be roundly condemned as being Islamophobic bigots by their peers.

The mainstream media and many politicians are cowards who kowtow to political correctness and quickly bash their own president.

Let’s start calling ideologies for what they are. Let’s denounce white supremacy and while we’re at it lets also denounce Islamic supremacy after every jihadi attack.
