...there is little, if any, demarcation between culture/society and the Church.
Faith in mankind. How does God have any? I’m not even talking about the epic and tragic chapters of human history (Original Sin, the Great Flood, the tower of Babel, the Crucifixion of Christ, the Inquisition, slavery, Nazism, socialism, terrorism, narcissism, etc., etc., etc.). I’m not even talking about World Wars, nuclear weapons, the abortion holocaust, or how human suffering is routinely boiled down to a political point or position. Nor am I talking about man’s inhumanity to man on an epochal and global scale.
No, I’m wondering how God could have any faith in a species that continually demonstrates it has so little integrity and almost no intellectual substance any more. Think I am grossly overstating and being mega-cynical?
Google “first name on ballot advantage” and see all the studies that pop up proving that hordes of those who actually vote put their lives in the hands of whoever is listed on the ballot first! Since we’re talking about voting, how is it remotely possible that the vast majority of eligible voters in a nation where millions of people in the history of the military have given life or limb (or both) for the right to vote aren’t interested in their own freedom enough to go vote on any given election day?
How is it that truth and facts have taken a back seat to ideology in education? Who in their right mind believes self-esteem trumps accuracy in mathematics? How have dishonest academicians gotten away with twisting American history such that many now believe America was settled by people seeking freedom from religion instead of freedom of religion? How is evolution not laughed out of existence seeing that not a single fossil exists (in reality) that demonstrates how one species evolved into another? All we have is an artist’s rendering of a monkey becoming a homo sapien. That’s it? Even though Darwin himself admitted his entire theory would fail without the discovery of transitional fossils! Yet it’s Creation that is ridiculed? Are you kidding me? You’ve looked up into the starry sky and seen the constellations right? Do you know how many times it would take throwing a handful of sand to get a single obvious pattern?
Global warming (as believed to be caused by human beings) has been shown over and over again to be non-existent. Scientists have been caught cheating and falsifying studies to fit their ideological narrative but it doesn’t seem to matter. Al Gore, President Obama, and millions of others embrace the belief anyway. They spend obscene amounts of other people’s money to counter something that the scientific data (not computer models) says isn’t happening to begin with! Unreal.
And then there’s the whole homosexuality thing. Commons sense unequivocally says that if either God or nature intended homosexuality to be “normative” then the entire species would commit self-extinction. Hate on Phil Robertson all you want but all he was using was his common sense when he rather graphically stated that the male and female sexual organs were obviously intended for one another while the male sex organ and the digestive system (ending with the anus) are clearly not made for each other. Yet something so obvious was decried as hate speech and ignorance.
Not to mention that all anyone seeking facts and truth needs to do is go to the Centers for Disease Control website and see the statistics about AIDS and multiple other sexually transmitted diseases and who gets them and how they get them. So few are willing to admit what is blatantly obvious for anyone with gray matter between their ears: a heterosexual couple cannot get any STD if they remain sexually faithful and true to each other (I know about blood transfusions and tainted needles. That’s like justifying abortion on demand for anyone on the basis of incest, rape, and the safety of the mother’s life…which is less than a single percentage point of all those who get abortions).
And since we’re on the subject, how can anyone make sense of abortion? If you’re an evolutionist where in nature does it exist outside of humanity? If you’re a Creationist how is it not the taking of innocent life transgressing the will, the intent, and the love of God? Yet millions and millions of people have absolutely no compunction with utilizing virtually the same argument for justifying it as did Adolph Hitler.
The saddest part of all that I have written so far is that there is little, if any, demarcation between culture/society and the Church. That’s right, churchgoers are just as guilty of it all as anyone else. If they vote at all many will vote for whoever promised the most governmental goodies rather than biblical values. You wouldn’t want to know how many times I’ve been taken to task by church members defending evolution, global warming, homosexuality, and abortion. I know I’m not exaggerating because the lack of impact the Church is having on the liberal ideological agenda out there is self-evident.
So, how does God have faith in mankind? We’re evil, stubborn, narcissistic, and just plain stupid. We demonize Adolph Hitler (rightfully so) while we utilize the same arguments he used for abortion, euthanasia, and the extermination of the Jews. We trivialize sacrifice while exalting selfishness. We glorify abortion and are aghast that so many people we call our countrymen are so callous and cruel. We get on the gay bandwagon (because it’s in vogue) and because we refuse to acknowledge the noses in front of our face are actually helping homosexuals get sick and die at an astronomically higher rate than heterosexuals. How loving and accepting we are.
Why God? Why do you have faith in us despite our unending history of shaking our fist at you with one hand while cutting our throats with the other? What’s that you say? There are two reasons?
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them…” (Genesis 1:27-28a)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16)
I’m neither smart enough to refute that nor dumb enough to try.
