As I was reading an article on the Indy Star news site regarding AFA placing Angie’s List on its anti-Christian bigotry map because they adamantly opposed the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act, I noticed something encouraging. Near the end of the article it mentioned an atheist group that is also on our map, and how the founder of that group recently came to faith in Jesus Christ. I proceeded to confirm this by contacting the man himself, Steve Tillman. Before I knew it we were texting back and forth regarding this story. Consequently, I can confirm that a former head of an atheist group has come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord! This is a huge encouragement!
As I exchanged conversation with Steve, there were a few comments that stood out to me. Here is a brief transcript of our conversation:
Me: Thankful to hear you came to know Jesus as your savior! It’s not every day I hear a story like this. Thanks for being gracious about this.
Steve: Its not a problem, I'm a little worried people will look at me like I'm crazy because of how this came about.
Me: Not crazy at all. It’s God. Which is hard to wrap our finite human minds around.
Steve: Agreed, and the strangest part is this calling I feel to spread the word of God.. like the pulpit has a huge magnet pulling me in.
