Safe, Legal, and Rare?

When politicians say they want abortion to be safe, legal and rare, they are being deceptive. Why?

  1. Abortion is the deliberate taking of an innocent life and is, therefore, murder. God will certainly forgive this sin (if forgiveness is sought), but the sin being forgiven is not an error of judgment but the sin of murder.
  2.  How can something be safe if the end result of doing it is the death of a human being? There is nothing “safe” about the deliberate taking of innocent human life.
  3. If taking an innocent life is deemed acceptable for one reason, what is to prevent it from being taken for a whole host of reasons?  There are any number of situations that might be deemed “helpful” or “convenient” when measuring the value of someone’s life.  It is both cruel and nonsensical to say abortion should be safe, legal, and rare.

Obviously and tragically, abortion has not been rare.   Over the last 40 years more than 55 million babies have been aborted in our nation.  That is not an indication of abortion being rare by any stretch of the imagination.  More than 2,000 abortions per day is overwhelming!  And to make sure it continues to thrive, the U.S. government has been giving Planned Parenthood almost two million dollars a day, making it the biggest abortion provider in the world demonstrating that it has little concern with making abortion rare.

When you hear politicians speak of “safe, legal, and rare” keep in mind they are really saying “I support the legalized killing of innocent babies as widely as we choose to carry it out.”

We are not deceived by politicians who want abortion to be safe, legal, and rare.  That is just code for us to leave the heavy lifting of moralizing and legislating to them.  It sounds nice but it means nothing.  The truth is that person actually wants a woman to be able to have an abortion any time she wants one.
