Urge Senators to Repeal Obamacare!

TUPELO, Miss.—The fatally flawed government health care plan, also known as Obamacare, finally has a chance to be repealed. And the American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) is asking Americans to urge their Senators to vote the same as their counterparts in the House of Representatives.

On Tuesday, the House overwhelmingly passed H.R. 596, the bill to repeal Obamacare and stop it dead in its tracks. Immediately, the bill was sent to the newly elected and Republican-controlled Senate for a vote.

“Obamacare has too many flaws to count,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon, “but a major problem within the intrusive government-controlled health care program is the religious freedom it strips away from people with faith convictions. No one should have to pay for coverage of a medical procedure that goes against their beliefs. This country was founded on freedom for all—not blanketed government programs for all.”

American voters issued a mandate for change last November, making this the first real chance to repeal Obamacare in the Senate. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Ala.) was received and read for the first time in the Senate on Wednesday.

Through a special Action Alert sent yesterday to its one million-plus friends and supporters, AFA is encouraging Americans to contact their Senators now and urge them to also vote for repeal. AFA has created a special web page that allows visitors to quickly and easily find their Senators and send them a pre-written note that states:

“Last November, the voters in our state sent you to Washington because we wanted real changes to occur. One of the most troubling issues to voters has been the Senate’s failure to repeal Obamacare. The last election was a mandate by the people for the Senate to follow the lead of the House and finally put an end to the impractical Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. I urge you to support and vote in favor of H.B. 596 and repeal Obamacare.”
