American Family Association Applauds Wal-Mart Decision to Cover Cosmopolitan Magazine
TUPELO, Miss.—American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) is applauding the recent corporate decision by Wal-Mart Stores Inc., to enforce its policy of covering up the often-explicit graphics and headlines of Cosmopolitan magazine.
According to coverage by Breitbart.com, as well a news release from the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCSE), Wal-Mart now joins several other major supermarket chains that are placing the magazine behind blinders.
“American Family Association applauds Wal-Mart for hearing our concerns, as well as the concerns of our friends and supporters around the country,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “Cosmopolitan magazine is clearly a publication for adults, and its objectionable and overtly offensive content should not be pushed in front of families and children in the checkout line. We thank Wal-Mart for its commitment in this matter to put families and kids first.”
While Wal-Mart previously had a policy to cover up Cosmopolitan in its stores, the enforcement became increasingly lax in recent years, says NCSE.
