Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R) hit back hard at ESPN when it tried to twist the facts after she signed a bill that prohibits men from participating in women’s sports statewide. In a tweet, Gov. Ivey said she wanted to “fix” ESPN’s wording of an earlier inflammatory tweet directed at her.
According to Fox News, ESPN had reported last Tuesday that “Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed legislation on Tuesday that will ban transgender women from playing on female sports teams in college.”
Gov. Ivey immediately responded with a tweet of her own, saying, “Let me fix that, @espn,” changing the wording from “transgender women” to “biological men.”
“Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed legislation on Tuesday that will ban biological MEN from playing on FEMALE sports teams in college,” the governor wrote to ESPN.
“Look, if you are a biological male, you are not going to be competing in women’s and girls’ sports in Alabama. It’s about fairness, plain and simple,” Ivey said in a statement after signing the bill into law.
Alabama now joins 20 other states who have placed restrictions on biological men competing in women’s sports.
We like Gov. Ivey’s quick wit and strong stand to protect women’s sports against the “woke” crowd, and especially ESPN.
