Did you know that pro-life Americans are being targeted and punished for standing up for the preborn? Since the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act) was enacted in 1994, the Department of Justice has filed more than 200 cases against pro-life activists. More than 20 such individuals were sentenced to harsh prison terms under the Biden administration – simply for praying, singing hymns, and offering sidewalk counseling to pregnant women.

The FACE Act is a politicized tool used to punish and criminalize standing up for pre-born babies. It must be repealed.

Consider the case of Paulette Harlow, a 76-year-old grandmother and retired nurse who suffers from serious health issues. She was sentenced to two years in federal prison. When her attorney argued at sentencing that she could die in prison, the judge callously denied the request and told Paulette she should “make every effort to stay alive”; after all, the judge said, it is one of “the tenets of your religion.” Yet another pro-life hero, Eva Edl, is an 89-year-old Holocaust survivor. She received a sentence of three years’ probation, which severely restricted her ability to travel and enjoy life.

Even though President Trump pardoned some pro-lifers unfairly prosecuted under the FACE Act, this unconstitutional law remains on the books. It can be re-activated at a moment’s notice to unduly punish peaceful pro-life advocates.

How is it that an elderly grandmother can be imprisoned for peacefully advocating for the preborn while hundreds of violent attacks on churches and pregnancy clinics have escaped FACE Act charges despite documented evidence? Peaceful protest and sidewalk prayer have been treated like crimes, while the real criminals walk free.

This isn’t just unfair – it’s dangerous. And we have to stop it now. Call and email your U.S. House members today and tell them to pass H.R. 589 before Labor Day.

Free speech, religious liberty, and the right to peacefully assemble don’t belong to one party or administration – they belong to all of us. It’s time to admit the truth: the FACE Act isn’t protecting anyone. It’s targeting people of faith. It must be repealed.
