Frequently Asked Questions

AFA isn’t exactly sure how long production of the tags will take, but we expect they will be ready within a few months of the order being placed.

AFA will receive $24.00 per tag ordered once the tags are available for the public to purchase.

Yes. The county will allow you to transfer a specialty plate to another vehicle.

The vehicle owner has up to 60 days to pick up the plate after it becomes available in the county office. AFA will contact those who pre-ordered “In God We Trust” tags on the day they become available. Any vehicle owner who waits beyond 60 days will be required to pay the special fees again.

State law requires the vehicle owner to surrender the specialty plate at the county tax collector’s office if they choose to register a different specialty plate for the vehicle.

Yes, unless the statute stipulates the number of specialty license plates that may be issued per person. (Only one tag is allowed per vehicle, as noted above.)

Yes, the vehicle owner is required to bring in the old license plate to receive the new specialty plate.

The vehicle owner should go to the new county office and have the clerk call the other county office to forward the license plate, or the owner may contact the Mississippi Department of Revenue to have the previous county of residence forward the tag to the owner’s new county office.
