America won’t survive without these ...
Do you remember which great American said that anyone who tries to undermine religion in our nation disqualifies himself as a patriot? Hint: He was not a preacher, a radio talk show host, or officially affiliated with a political party.
Here’s his exact quote:
Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness ...
If you said our first president, George Washington, you’re right. The quote is from his Farewell Address in 1796. He was near the end of his second term and was planning for these to be his parting words to the nation as he left public life.
If you resonate with Washington’s sentiments, you’re in good company. All our Founding Fathers believed that religion and morality were essential to the nation’s survival.
Now, as I write these words to you, I’m struck with the thought that Washington’s insights express the core of AFA’s work for the past 43 years.
Political prosperity is the result of a Christian worldview and the morality that naturally flows from it. In my opinion, the future of our nation hangs on that premise.
I wonder how many in America today embrace that self-evident truth? I’m afraid it’s only a minority, despite the fact that the survival of our nation as a constitutional republic depends on it.
In a time when many Americans think that governing is all about power and that the goal of politics is winning at any cost, we must to be reminded of what the Scripture teaches about the purpose, limit, and function of government.
That’s why I want you to have the powerful new AFA DVD, A Biblical View of Civil Government, by historian and writer Stephen McDowell.
Stephen is a personal friend of mine and a friend of AFA. He’s the co-founder of the Providence Foundation and has authored over 20 books, videos, and teaching courses, including Liberating the Nations and America’s Providential History. He’s a wonderful storyteller and teacher and has an inspiring way of helping Christians see God’s hand in our nation’s history.
In appreciation for your generous gift and faithfulness to AFA, I want to send you a DVD of A Biblical View of Civil Government.
To me, it’s obvious that for our nation to succeed its people must be restrained by personal morality. But for our morality to be based in eternal truth – and thus be honoring to God – it must be informed by God’s Word. This is why AFA is a distinctively Christian organization! We unapologetically antd without reservation:
• promote the Bible as the word of God, for it alone is the standard of faith and practice for the church;
• defend a Christian worldview, because the Bible teaches all men everywhere and at all times how they should live their lives;
• proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it alone is the power of God to save and sanctify all who believe.
Because truth is on our side we stand firm and immovable for Jesus Christ even when we are incessantly and viciously attacked, and even when some in the Christian community waver and compromise.
But even in the midst of fierce spiritual warfare, I am convinced that Christians are waking up to what’s going on in America!
I told you four years ago that Christians played a pivotal role in the 2016 election. That’s according to my friend, pollster, and analyst George Barna, who pays special attention to what he calls SAGE Cons – Spiritually Active, Governance Engaged Conservatives. For the most part, these are Bible-believing Christians who are involved in the political process.
In 2016, 91% of SAGE Cons voted for Christian and conservative values, and George said AFA played a huge role in informing them about the issues and driving them to the voting booth. But did you know that ...
... the numbers went even higher in the election this past November?
George said the participation of Bible-believing Christians in the 2020 election was stunning – shattering his own belief that 2016 represented the pinnacle of Christian involvement. He said that 99% of SAGE Cons voted on November 3, 2020, and 97% voted for President Trump, casting 21 million votes – nearly 30% of his total!
The amazing truth is that, while SAGE Cons make up only 9% of the population, George said that these motivated Christians accounted for 14% of the total votes cast in the 2020 election. He said no other voting bloc in America was so unanimous in its support for a candidate.
Moreover, rather than the predicted “blue wave” of secular “progressive” victories on November 3, there was instead a “red wave” of conservative victories in the House of Representatives. This included a record number of pro-life women entering Congress.
According to iVoterGuide, a group with which AFA works closely, state races also went very well for Christian values. This is especially important in a U.S. Census year, because election results mean that candidates who hold Christian values will be in control of the state redistricting of 188 congressional seats – which is 43% of the total number of House seats.
I praise God that He is using you and AFA to wake up more and more Americans to understand the consequences of a Marxist takeover of our nation and the devastation that will result if America turns to godless socialism.
But there is much yet to do, and our first priority for 2021 must be to humble ourselves before God in repentance and faith.
I invite you to join me in incorporating this verse into your times of praying for revival to come to our nation:
Lord, I have heard the report about You and I fear. O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy (Habakkuk 3:2).
Please accept my sincere gratitude for joining me and the whole AFA family in the Christian restoration of our great nation.
Let’s stay in the fight! Remember to order the DVD titled A Biblical View of Civil Government, continue praying for our country, and keep supporting AFA.
