Recently, I became curious as to what percentages of children in the United States are born into wedlock. Wedlock refers to marriage, so out of wedlock means children born without a legally married mom and dad at home. As I researched this statistic I was shocked, according to the CDC 40.7% of children born in the U.S. in the year 2011 were born out of wedlock. Every 4 in 10 babies are born without a married mother and father. This statistic doesn’t tell the whole story. In the year 2011 there were 730,322 legal abortions reported to the CDC. According to the CDC 85% of those abortions were unmarried women.
Bear with me while I assert my math skills on paper. If we add the 1.6 million babies born to unmarried parents with the 620,774 babies from unmarried parents that were aborted we have a total number of 2.2 million infants conceived out of wedlock. To put this in simple terms out of the recorded 4.68 million children conceived (not born) in the United States in 2011 2.2 million of them were born with a single parent legally. Nearly 50% of children conceived in this country are to men and women who aren’t married.
I’ve long known sexual immorality was rampant in America. I would argue that sexual anarchy began with this narrative of sex whenever with whoever. Abortion cannot fix this issue, birth control cannot fix this problem. No man-made solution can fix this catastrophe. These solutions are unbiblical and only fuel the fire by promoting sexual anarchy in the form of offering an easy way out. We all know the damage abortion causes. Only revival in the Christian Church can heal this broken land. I pray revival comes in the name our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
