American Family Association: Sign Online ‘I Will Pray’ Pledge as Oral Arguments in Landmark Case Take Place April 28

With the nine Supreme Court justices soon considering the fate of same-sex marriage for the nation, American Family Association (www.afa.net) is urging Christians across the country to make an “I Will Pray” commitment.

AFA’sI Will Pray” pledge, which launched yesterday, encourages Americans to pray for the Supreme Court decision as oral arguments regarding the definition of marriage in America are scheduled for April 28. AFA is also offering free and downloadable outlines for sermons and Sunday school classes to coincide with this important topic.

“The very institution of God’s design for marriage as between one man and one woman is on trial,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “As hard as it is to believe, nine people will decide if our nation will turn its back on the most fundamental building block of society. This may be the most important decision in the history of America.

“The consequences of this decision on people of faith could be staggering,” Wildmon continued. “Private business owners have already come under great pressure to surrender their religious liberty and provide services for same-sex weddings. It would be only a matter of time before pastors and churches would be demanded to do the same.”

On the special “I Will Pray” section of its website, AFA asks Americans to commit to prayer beginning today, April 20 and continuing through the April 28 oral arguments.

“We know that prayer has changed the hearts of leaders and the course of nations,” Wildmon added.  “Never before has the need to pray been so critical to the future of our country. We urge Christians to sign the ‘I Will Pray’ pledge and let AFA know you will be praying with us.”
