As we celebrate another national birthday in our nation, there is a reason to praise God for His goodness to us. However, there is equal or perhaps even more reason to pause and cry out to God for revival considering how far America has strayed from Him.
The listeners to American Family Radio are reminded often of this quote from President Reagan, “If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, we will be a nation gone under.” Evidence exists and seems to gather the by the hour that we as a nation have forgotten God.
Billy Graham had this observation about the spiritual state of our nation today, “Our society strives to avoid any possibility of offending anyone – except God.” Mr. Graham further observed, “… Yet the farther we get from God, the more the world spirals out of control.”
Here at American Family Radio, we believe that the only real hope for America is in God. Yet, as a nation we have turned away from Him and we are offending Him. We desperately need revival in the Church and another spiritual awakening in our land. The wonderful news is that our Lord is a God of mercy and He responds to repentance.
In Jonah’s day, Nineveh was the lone world superpower – wealthy, unconcerned, and self-centered. When the prophet Jonah finally traveled to Nineveh and proclaimed God’s warning, people heard and repented. So America, there is still hope for the future because we still have a chance to repent and change our ways.
We invite you to listen to our Independence Day Radio Special for a clear message of warning and hope from one of America’s most anointed of preachers – Richard Owen Roberts. I first met him at the Heart-Cry for Revival Conference and recently AFR’s Rick Robertson shared with me this powerful message from God’s Word on the subject of revival by Mr. Roberts. After listening to this timely and dynamic sermon and being moved so deeply, I knew we had to share it with our AFR listeners.
Richard Owen Roberts is the President and founding Director of International Awakening Ministries. He is a student of revival and has spent a good portion of his life preaching on that subject.
May God bless this message by Mr. Roberts to break our hearts and impress upon us the need to repent and return to Him. May we become desperate for Him in our hearts, in our churches and in our nation. Mr. Roberts defines revival as “an extraordinary movement of the Holy Spirit producing extraordinary results.”
May God send us the fresh fire of revival to help us as we pray and work together to bring our nation back to Him.
