TV Land has recently begun airing previews for the new program “Teachers” planned for a premiere on January 13. The previews alone are vulgar and disgusting, which is extremely disturbing since it involves a young cast. If the promos are this bad, then obviously the show is not suitable for TV. The network is marketing this show with the line “six elementary school teachers try to mold young minds, even though their own lives aren’t really together.”
Teaching is an honorable job, but also a thankless job. Students are showing less respect for teachers every year and programs like this are not going to help the situation. Teachers are already under-appreciated and kids are bullied enough by peers, but apparently nothing is off limits for this TV Land show that drags teachers through the mud and has them viciously abusing students.
Teacher discussions with students, coworkers, and parents involve sexual innuendos, one night stands, sleeping around, drugs, alcohol, lying, deception, and romantic weekends.
1MM wants to support and encourage teachers, not belittle, mock, or bring them down like TV Land is doing. Everyone knows that the entertainment industry desensitizes viewers, especially impressionable young minds.
The name of the show and the school campus setting, along with elementary age cast members, will attract young viewers. The content in this program is inappropriate for children and teens as it will send the wrong message to America's youth.
TV Land's newest show “Teachers” is irresponsible and an insult to all teachers. It is appalling that TV Land is airing a show that features immoral behavior in a positive light while attempting to draw in young viewers with the title and adolescent setting of the program. The network is encouraging questioning authority while showing teachers being cruel to young children and vile gestures at school.
