The more homosexuality changes, the more it remains the same.
Homosexual activists have done a masterful job of lying to the American people about the nature of homosexuality. They have convinced most consumers of low-information media that homosexual behavior is simply a benign and healthy alternative to heterosexuality. It isn’t. And it never has been.
With a bent and twisted media as their willing accomplices, they have convinced many Americans that homosexual “marriages” aren’t really any different than heterosexual marriages, and homosexual “families” aren’t really different from natural families. But they are radically different and always have been.
The sad truth is that homosexuality throughout history is almost boring in its monotonous deviance from God’s design for human sexuality. There is nothing new or exciting or edgy to see here, despite the effort to convince us that embracing homosexuality is something all the cool kids do.
A peek at Genesis 19 and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, which took place about 4000 years ago, is all you need to be convinced.
There is no question, by the way, that the sin of Sodom was, well sodomy. The men surrounded the house of Lot, who was hosting two male travelers, and insisted that Lot bring his guests out to them so “that we may know them” (Genesis 19:5). “Know” is a frequent metaphor for sexual intercourse in Scripture. The men of Sodom weren’t interested in developing a relationship with these men, they were interested in raping them.
Here are the modern day manifestations of homosexuality that were as true then as they are today.
Number one, homosexuality is about random, anonymous sex. The homosexuals in Sodom didn’t even know who these men were. They had never met them. They were total strangers to them, and yet they insisted on the opportunity to copulate with them. And so still today homosexuals frequently resort to couplings with total strangers in bathhouses, rest areas, bathrooms in public parks, and the like.
When I served as public parks commissioner in my hometown of Boise, Idaho, we had to pass ordinances to prohibit more than one adult at a time being in bathroom stalls in our park system. Our maintenance crews often had to patch up holes that had been drilled in the wooden dividers between adjacent stalls for sexual purposes.
In the most extensive longitudinal study of homosexual behavior ever done, as reported by Bell and Weinberg, an astonishing 43% of white homosexuals reported having more than 500 sexual partners over the course of their lifetimes. Remarkably, 28% reported over 1000 lifetime partners. The average number of lifetime sexual partners for heterosexuals is seven.
The health risks associated with homosexual behavior are enormous. Men who have sex with men are by far at the greatest risk of contracting HIV/AIDS, with men who engage in intravenous drug abuse a distant second. According to the CDC, a staggering 79% of all new HIV/AIDS infections in 2011 were among men who have sex with men. HIV/.AIDS tragically is ravaging the black community, particularly those aged 13-24.
Number two, homosexual sex often involves violence and sexual assault. The men of Sodom were prepared to use physical violence to break down the door to Lot’s home so that these men could be dragged into the public square and victimized by one man after another. “They pressed hard against the man Lot and drew near to break the door down” (Genesis 19:9). While sexual violence, of course, does occur in heterosexual relationships as well, it occurs with particularly disturbing frequency in the homosexual community.
The rate of domestic violence in homosexual relationships is 100% higher than the rate in heterosexual relationships. The most dangerous place for a man to be is in an intimate sexual relationship with another man.
A study conducted by the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, which in turn reviewed four other studies involving 30,000 participants, confirms this. Said Richard Carroll, co-author of the report, "One of our startling findings was that rates of domestic violence among same-sex couples is pretty consistently higher than for opposite sex couples.” According to the National Center for Lesbian Rights, 40% of homosexuals have been the victims of sexual violence.
We predicted that once the military foolishly abandoned its prohibition on open homosexuality in the armed services, reports of male-on-male sexual violence would soon spike. And we were right. When the Pentagon released its 2012 report on sexual assault in the military, it revealed that of the 26,000 victims of sexual assault, a majority, over 14,000, were men. Just two percent of these cases involved a woman as the perpetrator.
And there are larger socio-cultural risks involved with the embrace of homosexuality. In a remarkable 2008 piece on the Huffington Post, of all places, Johann Hari explores the connection between homosexuality and fascism.
Writes Hari,
“The twisted truth is that gay men have been at the heart of every major fascist movement that ever was - including the gay-gassing, homo-cidal Third Reich. With the exception of Jean-Marie Le Pen, all the most high-profile fascists in Europe in the past thirty years have been gay. It’s time to admit something. Fascism isn’t something that happens out there, a nasty habit acquired by the straight boys. It is - in part, at least - a gay thing, and it’s time for non-fascist gay people to wake up and face the marching music.”
Although many other parallels between contemporary homosexuality and ancient Sodom could be explored, it’s worth noting that a salient characteristic of homosexual activists is also revealed in the Genesis 19 account. That is, homosexual activists are absolutely relentless in pursuing their agenda. They “pressed hard” against Lot’s house and were prepared to break into his home despite his entreaties.
And so in a similar way today, the homosexual activists are grimly determined to compel our entire culture to accept the normalcy of LGBT behavior or get punished. The NFL and the NCAA have already brought the hammer down on the entire state of North Carolina for standing up for sexual normality. The NCAA is now bludgeoning every school in its association to allow men to use women’s locker rooms and shower rooms or pay the price. Your state and your school system will be next.
Bottom line: the slogan of the homosexual movement is not “Coexist,” as they would have us believe. No, the slogan of homosexual activists is “Coexist -- or else.” If we do not push back against this relentless aggression, we will be overwhelmed by the forces of sexual darkness and we will lose our culture in the process.
