The Green New Deal: Too Much Green, Nothing New, No Deal

The Senate, over the objections of bill sponsor Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, voted on her Green New Deal Bill earlier this week. It’s a bit puzzling she would object. In order to get anywhere in Congress, a bill, first of all, has to be voted on. You’d think she’d be ecstatic.

Perhaps it was because she had no difficulty predicting the outcome. It failed miserably, losing 57-0. No Republicans and no Democrats voted for this misbegotten piece of legislation, and four Democrats actually voted against it, knowing it is a spectacularly bad bill.

The other Democrat senators voted “Present,” which is how legislators abstain. They couldn’t commit to voting for it (not an optimistic sign for ultimate passage) or against it, so they just sat on their hands.

There are innumerable reasons to be against this deal, or whatever reworked version follows it, and not a single one in its favor. For one thing, it’s gonna cost way too much green - $93 trillion at last count. This is 400% larger than our entire national debt, which is enough of a national embarrassment as it is. It’s more money than the entire federal government has spent on everything since it was founded in 1789.

And there is nothing new in it. The GND is counting on wind and solar to provide the energy of the future, but the Dutch have been converting wind to energy for centuries. What they learned is that wind is only a source of energy when the wind is actually blowing. The state of Washington relies heavily on wind energy and the government had to tell people to turn their thermostats down to 60 degrees because there was so little wind in February.

People have been relying on solar energy since the dawn of creation. In fact, the sun is the ONLY source of heat for global temperatures. There’s nothing else. If you want to control global temperatures, you’re going to have to find a way to slow down the sun. God’s the only one who can do that. And it looks like he’s getting ready.

Astronomers tell us we are heading into a prolonged solar minimum, which will reduce the energy reaching the earth from the sun. It will decrease global temperatures for the next several decades. The last time we dealt with a prolonged solar minimum, they called it the Little Ice Age, and people were ice skating on the Thames River in London. We may soon be longing for the good ole days of global warming.

On top of that, CO2, which is the villain of the piece according to untethered environmentalists, is not a threat to the environment at all - it’s plant food. Plants must have CO2 to grow and thrive. The more CO2 the better. Because atmospheric levels of CO2 have increased in the last several decades, an area the size of the continental United States has greened up around the world. And plants in return give off oxygen. If you like to breathe, you will soon recognize that CO2 is your friend, not your enemy.

Wind turbines have chewed up so many birds that I just call them bird blenders. If the Green New Deal is implemented, the United States will be littered with wind farms, and if it’s fully built out according to Ocasio-Cortez’s plan, up to 30 million birds a year will get chopped up. Does that sound like a good deal to anybody?

Even solar farms can represent a threat to birds. The giant Ivanpah solar plant in Nevada uses giant mirrors to focus reflected sunlight to collectors at the top of tall poles. Unfortunately, if birds fly through the solar farm near those poles, the energy is enough to instantly flash-fry them. They just disappear in a puff of smoke. And of course, solar power only works when the sun is shining, which means you must have an alternate source of energy every night and on cloudy days.

And if that’s not enough, we are now finding out that electricity generated by solar and wind farms is killing cows in France. Lethal levels of electricity travel through ground and water sources and enter the bodies of livestock, who have only one-third the level of electrical resistance that human beings have. (Note: AOC has said we must eliminate all cows and their flatulence by 2032. Is this all a part of her diabolical plan? Just kidding.)
