While dentists’ offices in Mississippi are banned from keeping regular appointments, it’s business as usual for the abortion doctor at Jackson’s only abortion clinic.
Mississippians deserve an answer from Governor Tate Reeves (R) and Dr. Thomas Dobbs, State Health Officer, as to why Mississippi’s abortion clinic remains open when the state has required the postponement of elective, non-essential medical “services?”
Contact Gov. Reeves and urge him to issue an executive order to ban MS abortions
On March 19, Dr. Dobbs issued a statewide health alert to “Postpone Elective Medical Procedures and Non-Essential Medical Visits.” He cited the reason for the postponement was the shortage of medical supplies. Dr. Dobbs stated, “given the ongoing spread of COVID-19 in Mississippi and the shortage of protective medical equipment, elective medical procedures and non-essential medical visits must be postponed at this time. (Emphasis added.)
Dr. Dobbs’ directive continued by stating:
The following measures must be taken:
Physicians, hospitals and medical centers must defer elective surgical and diagnostic procedures until COVID-19 spread has been diminished and the supply of protective medical equipment is restored. (Emphasis added.)
The directive also forced restrictive measures against dental clinics:
Dentists must delay non-emergency or routine dental procedures. (Emphasis added.)
As Gov. Reeves stated, the central purpose of the state’s directive is to conserve protective medical equipment, like surgical masks, and redirect those supplies to healthcare workers during this COVID-19 crisis. So, dental offices are ordered by the state to delay cleaning teeth to conserve medical supplies while the abortion facility remains open and uses these same supplies for evil intent.
During a press conference Gov. Reeves was later asked what directive the state had issued in relation to the abortion facility (Jackson Women’s Health) and what he would do to enforce Dr. Dobbs’ directive. Gov. Reeves stated, “they (abortion facility) should be following the guidelines as offered by the state department of health, and if they are not, then I would be prepared to take additional action to make sure they do so.” (Gov. As a matter of fact, Mississippi’s lone abortion business is even stronger today due to out of state traffic from states like Louisiana, Texas, Ohio, Illinois, Alabama and Georgia who have halted elective abortion in their states because of the pandemic. Local reports about the abortion facility indicate that business is booming at the abortuary.
Recent reports also show video of traffic into the facility. Below is a picture reportedly taken of the abortion doctor, Bruce Norman, wearing a surgical mask when entering the facility on April 2. As of this report, neither Gov. Reeves nor Dr. Dobbs has taken explicit action against the facility.

The State of Mississippi has banned regular dental appointments causing many dental practices to temporally close, but why is the abortion facility allowed by the state to continue to operate at full speed when hospitals are facing a shortage of masks, gloves, gowns and other medical items that are being used by the abortion facility?
Today, I am asking Mississippians to join me in urging Governor Reeves and Dr. Dobbs to close this clinic by following the examples of executive orders issued by the respective governors of Indiana, Ohio, and Texas. Considering this national emergency, it is the right thing for them to do at the present time.
