Late last week, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) sent out a tweet to over 12 million people, twice accusing Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) of trying to have her murdered.
In her tweet, she said:
"I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there's common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out. Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren't trying to get me killed…In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign."
This is a deplorable statement for one elected official to make to another, especially when the accusation is completely false. Ironically, Twitter has been silent and refuses to suspend her account for this outright lie on its platform.
This type of unprofessional and childish behavior should be repudiated by every member of Congress.
Representative Ocasio-Cortez’s fear-mongering has already attracted the attention of Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), who has written a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, asking her to reign in her fellow Democrat Ocasio-Cortez's hateful rhetoric.
Email your representative now! Urge them to publicly call on Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to retract her statement, remove the tweet and publicly apologize to Senator Cruz.
If she refuses, she should be admonished or censured by the House of Representatives.
