For a dream comes through much activity, And a fool’s voice is known by his many words (Ecclesiastes 5:3 NKJV).
“Pay no attention to the meaning behind this curtain of words,” said the hard-working politicians like a wizard to Dorothy.
The H.R. 1 “For the People Act of 2021” is an insult to “We, the people...” and is designed to consolidate power for one party’s interest while stealing states’ rights and exposing God-fearing Americans to harm.
It is obvious Big Government prospers within this big bill. How big is it?
The simplified Senate summary is 22 pages here, yet the PDF of the House bill that was passed is 886 pages here. The long version is 170,000 words and symbols in length.
Compare H.R. 1’s 170,000 words to the beauty and intent of the Declaration of Independence’s 1458 words and the U.S. Constitution’s 4,543 words. What about the 27 amendments? It isn’t that many more words.
America was born and shaped with barely more than 9,000 words.
Yet politicians today (many who are attorneys) think they need 170,000 words for H.R. 1?
Perhaps we should make them do as the Founders did – write all legislation by hand. That might help cut the fluff and pork packed in bills today. It would certainly cut down on the number of words.
But what is the big problem with H.R. 1? Actually, in a bill this size, there are numerous problems.
H.R. 1 is “…a blatant attack, literally, to federalize elections across the country … Pelosi’s legislation seeks to do away with that [Article I, Section 4] to make Washington, D.C., a central hub for all elections. In addition to that, it also grants Congress the exclusive authority over redistricting for Congressional districts. It also has implications for eventually causing non-profit organizations to reveal their donors,” according to Abraham Hamilton, III, general counsel for American Family Association and radio host of The Hamilton Corner.
As Tim Wildmon, President of American Family Association shared recently,
“These names would then be made available to the public and searchable on government websites. Names of donors could then be used, for example, to publicly intimidate those whose religious convictions define marriage as being between one man and one woman, or those who believe that sex is a fixed biological reality established at conception. Such an act of intimidation of donors would harm the ability of non-profit organizations to advocate on behalf of their supporters. These bills would weaponize the Federal Election Commission against Americans and use the force of government as a way to silence dissenting opinion.
“Pelosi's and Schumer's versions of the bill would also federalize state elections by imposing unconstitutional mandates and would expand federal government regulation of state elections. This agenda would violate the rights of states and their citizens to establish voter qualifications to ensure integrity at the polls by enforcing "progressive" laws on voter identification, absentee ballots, and mail-in voting.

So, the “For the People Act” silences those who have dissenting opinions – but isn’t having differing opinions the reason we have at least two political parties?
Hamilton adds, “It is a broad piece of legislation...and they are using it in order to co-op power – centralizing it in D.C. and, very frankly put, to ensure Democrats’ control over our government in the foreseeable future.”
So, the “For the People Act of 2021” centralizes power to the Democratic Party? What could go wrong with letting the power be centralized to a party that removed God from their platform and booed God at their conventions?
For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste (Isaiah 60:12 ESV).
Like Dorothy, we need to return home, except our home isn’t Kansas but with God.
May God give us the strength to simultaneously pray for each person’s salvation even as we stand against those who oppose our desires, hopes, and prayers which honor Him. Let us continue to do so even as they denigrate Him and us.
Pastors need to preach the truth in the Bible even if they think the world will mock, cancel, or persecute them.
Let us live life today to honor and love God individually, in our families, in our churches, and hopefully through a nation that will remember her history as one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
