Did you know, on two different occasions, human beings have attempted to restart time itself?
In 1975, a communist radical by the name of Pol Pot, along with his followers, gained control of the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. In an effort to completely detach the populace from any history or tradition, he set out to destroy all traces of religion, currency, commerce, and private property.
The cities were emptied, and civilians were forced into rural farming communities, working strictly for the government.
War was declared on intellect, books were burned, and many educated individuals were killed. Multilingual people, as well as those who wore glasses, were especially targeted.
Once his rule was established on April 17, 1975, Pol Pot declared it “Year Zero” and attempted to eradicate all past institutions. The death toll from his reign (1975-1979) would exceed two million, roughly a fifth of the Cambodian population, marking one of the worst genocides the world has ever seen.
The experiment of restarting time was also tried during the French Revolution, when the monarchy was overthrown and a new dating system was implemented, for a short while at least. The revolutionaries passed this new calendar into law in 1793, declaring it “Year 1” of the Republic, and started counting from there. It lasted roughly 12 years before the nation returned to the normal calendar system.
If you think the strategies of Pol Pot and the French revolutionaries are far removed, ancient history never to be repeated, the left has provided extensive evidence to the contrary.
This agenda of ridding a population of a certain ideology, while purging all who dissent, is an agenda alive and well in modern America.
Just ask Rick Klein, political director of ABC News, who tweeted (and then deleted) this message in January: “Trump will be ex-president in 13 days. The fact is that getting rid of Trump is the easy part. Cleansing the movement he commands is going to be something else.”
Columnist Wajahat Ali agreed: “You can't heal or reform the GOP who are now an extremist party. They have to be broken, burned down and rebuilt...”
Political writer Bill Palmer posted that “Conservatives CANNOT be teachers, police officers, doctors, lawyers, coaches, or bosses. It’s constitutionally unfair to others who are subjected to the conservative’s deranged judgement. Conservatives can do menial work, until they’re ready to join the human race.”
Writer David Atkins asked, “No seriously...how [do] you deprogram 75 million people? Where do you start? Fox? Facebook? We have to start thinking in terms of post-WWII Germany or Japan.”
More than 74 million people voted for Donald Trump in 2020. That’s a lot of people to “cleanse,” and “burn down.” That’s a large number of voices to silence, workers to fire, and minds to “rebuild.”
But that is exactly the left’s agenda, and it’s kept them very busy.
They want to control what you think, and if you don’t comply, they’ll simply get rid of you.
It’s pretty clear what the left doesn’t want you to believe in. Freedom, capitalism, and of course God. All the things that have been with America since her founding and have greatly contributed to her greatness.
So if these are the ideologies the left is seeking to purge, what ideologies are they looking to adopt?
It appears progressives have but one litmus test for adopting new ideologies: Does the given worldview stand in opposition to the Word of God and the conservative values that have built this nation? If the answer is yes, you can expect whole-hearted support from the left.
Communism. Homosexuality. Transgenderism. Abortion. Islam. Atheism. Anything goes.
This frantic and disorganized method of adopting beliefs is the main reason why many of the values and agendas on the Left stand in direct contradiction to each other.
Transgenderism and feminism (both supposedly championed by the Left) contradict each other – just ask any of the high school, college, or Olympic female athletes who are losing competitions to biological men identifying as women.
Homosexuality and Islam (both supposedly championed by the Left) contradict each other as well – just ask the families of homosexual men thrown off rooftops by Muslim crowds for being gay.
And yet liberals will support any and all of these movements, disregarding their obvious contradiction. Why?
Because at least none of them is Christianity.
The progressive movement is desperate, like Pol Pot, to remove all remnants of the past, to re-educate or silence all who still hold to beliefs in Jesus Christ and the principles in His Word.
Through the school systems and Hollywood, we’ve watched as progressives attempt to follow in Pol Pot’s footsteps - detaching the populace from any history, tradition, or common sense.
The examples are numerous.
- For centuries, boy meant boy and girl meant girl. The two genders were separate and unique, obviously so. Now, leftists want us to believe that they’re interchangeable, punishing anyone who resists.
Even children’s cartoons are pushing this message, with LGBTQ promo clips shamelessly inserted into the programming.
- Marriage was always between one man and one woman because that’s obviously the only way a society continues to produce children and sustain a population. However, this is God’s design for marriage, so it must be replaced by “progress.”
Now, leftists push the view that marriage can be between two men or two women. Anyone who believes in the traditional view of marriage is quickly branded as “homophobic.”
- America clearly has Christian roots, but the progressive school systems are working very hard to prevent children from learning about them, instead stressing how racist America always was and continues to be.
- Prayer to God has been taken out of public schools, where it formerly was a staple within education.
- The biblical account of God creating the universe has been tossed out as well, replaced with evolution and a “Big Bang” theory, which describes a mysterious explosion that accidentally brought everything into existence.
Author William Federer appeared on AFR’s The Hamilton Corner and offered a summary of the Left’s tactics, which eerily match those of the genocidal Pol Pot in the 20th century:
“You separate a people from their past. Get them into a new group where they do not remember where they came from and then you brainwash them into the future you have planned for them.”
The cruel reign of Pol Pot stands as a stark warning to Americans, an example of the past-erasing agenda, and the sweeping tyranny that follows.
