You Silly Peasants, Do As I Say, Not As I Do

Sometimes the absolutely ludicrous double standards of what our liberal politicians say versus what they actually do is just too much to handle – especially when it comes to this pandemic.

You would think that after almost 20 months of COVID-19 and all its subsequent variants, I would be used to our government’s chaotic confusion, fearmongering, shadow banning, and complete lack of either truth or accountability.

And for the most part, I am. In fact, I try my best to avoid mainstream media and stay out of the Facebook feuds over vaccines and a myriad of other topics.

But this weekend, as I took a quick swipe through posts from my FB friends, I saw several pictures of a political fundraiser hosted by one of our nation’s top leaders. It was held in the form of a garden party with dozens of well-dressed (and mostly white) potential donors closely seated side-by-side at elegantly appointed tables adorned with lovely flower arrangements and white tablecloths.

As the cameras panned several long aisles of tables, the voice of this well-known politician could be heard talking to her guests over a microphone. All the while, professionally dressed waiters moved in and out of the scenes carrying beautiful plates of food to the guests.

But get this – not one single person attending this lovely event was wearing a mask – except for the waiters.

What? Surely not!

Sadly, it’s the truth! During a time when the CDC is reporting some of the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases since its entrance into America in January 2020, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, the third-in-command of the United States of America, openly hosted a garden party fundraiser – mask-less - with closely quartered (albeit outdoors) and unmasked guests.

Look closely, and notice there’s not even a sign of a mask dangling on the necks of attendees: https://nypost.com/2021/08/22/video-shows-hoards-of-maskless-people-at-pelosi-fundraiser/.

Yet, Pelosi’s wait staff had to wear masks to serve her unmasked potential donors.

I was at a loss for words.

But I really shouldn’t be shocked. After all, this is the same politician who was secretly filmed in September 2020 (actually during a period of strict pandemic mandates and even shutdowns for businesses across America) getting her hair done without a mask. Pictures showed Pelosi with a mask around her neck, but her San Francisco stylist wore a mask while serving the speaker.

Then, in May of this year, $500 fines were issued to members of Congress who refused to follow the mask mandate handed down earlier by the Attending Physician of Congress (APC). And even though the CDC had issued a statement around this same time declaring vaccinated individuals could safely go mask-less indoors, Capitol police were directed by Pelosi to deny entry to staff members and guests without masks, with added provisions to arrest those who refused to comply.

But evidently, Pelosi did not really believe these same rules applied to her because on May 20, 2021, she was filmed without any sign of a mask while greeting scores of other people during a visit to the White House. Think about that! She was mask-less at the White House but had just fined other national representatives who refused to don a mask in the nearby Capitol building.

Representative Thomas Massie (KY-R) tweeted about Pelosi’s ridiculous double standard:

Meanwhile, @SpeakerPelosi fined me and @RepMTG and @RepBrianMast and other republicans$500 for not wearing a mask in the House Chamber this week. Hypocrite!

And lest we forget, in late July 2021, the mask mandate was reinstated by the APC for both vaccinated and unvaccinated members of Congress, their staff, guests, and reporters.

Pelosi’s official remarks on the latest congressional mask mandate passed the buck:  “That’s the purview of the Capitol physician, the official capacity, a mandate from him. I have nothing to say about that except we honor it.”

Minority House Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-R) responded to Pelosi in a news conference by saying, "That is not a speaker for America. “That’s a speaker only concerned about her own wealth, her own direction, and her own control. This is the people's house, not Pelosi's house.”

Though McCarthy’s “anti-science” remarks were supposedly categorized by Pelosi as “moronic,” he was right in one respect. Congress is not Pelosi’s house.

While at our House, in our US Capitol building, Speaker Pelosi expects everyone to don a mask as a good scientific way to stop the spread of COVID – in an environment that is already documented to be 85% or more vaccinated.

Yet at Pelosi’s house, (or at least when she hosts a garden party), everybody is evidently welcome to snuggle on up close to each other and enjoy a lavish meal without those inconvenient pesky masks.

But have no fear! For I am sure Pelosi’s unmasked liberal Democratic supporters were “sophisticated” guests, much like the hundreds of people who recently attended President Obama’s 60th birthday bash. And that liberal sophistication exempts them from all COVID germs, including the Delta variant.

If you don’t believe me, I am sure there is plenty of “good science” to back me up. Otherwise, our wise and compassionate Speaker of the House would never have allowed her refined and erudite guests to sit so closely without masks, thereby risking exposure or spread of COVID.

Of course not, silly peasants!

Why do you think she made sure the unsophisticated waiters were masked? Duh! All germs from these common day laborers were completely contained and squashed behind those matching wait-staff masks. So no worries! All is well!

Wow! I feel so much better now, after knowing ALL the facts. Don’t you?
