Fact-Checking Senator Warren

DAILY STAND EMAIL
Thursday, July 14, 2022 @ 12:50 PM Fact-Checking Senator Warren Hannah Meador The Stand Writer MORE

This week started with First Lady Jill Biden calling Hispanic Americans “Breakfast tacos” and was followed by Elizabeth Warren’s opinion on Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPC). Now, at this point, nothing should shock me, but Senator Warren’s remarks staunchly offended me. In the wake of the Roe overturn, Warren recently spoke with reporters in Massachusetts. She said the following:

“In Massachusetts right now, those crisis pregnancy centers that are there to fool people who are looking for pregnancy termination help outnumber true abortion clinics by 3 to 1. We need to shut them down here in Massachusetts, and we need to shut them down all around the country. You should not be able to torture a pregnant person like that.”

Did my ears fail me?

Is she saying that the diligent volunteers and staff of CPC around the nation are … torturing “pregnant persons?” How ignorant can a person be!

In reality, according to last year’s report by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, in 2021, there were roughly 3,000 clinics around the nation. Better yet, the 2019 data revealed services provided in-depth. They were:

  • 8 in 10 locations (or 2,132) offer Free Ultrasounds
  • 486,213 Free Ultrasounds Performed
  • 731,884 Free Pregnancy Tests
  • 967,251 Free Consultations with New Clients
  • 810 Locations offer STD Testing
  • 563 Locations offer STD treatment onsite
  • 291,230 Clients Attended Parenting and Prenatal Education Classes
  • 21,698 Clients Attended After-Abortion Support and Recovery Sessions
  • 305 Locations offer Abortion Pill Reversal
  • 2,525 Locations offer Material Assistance such as baby items (including diapers, baby clothing outfits, new car seats, and strollers)
  • 120 Medical Mobile Units with Ultrasound (at least) rolling on the road to bring services to women out in the community
  • 14,977 Paid Staff (25 percent of whom are licensed, medical professionals)
  • 53,855 Volunteers (12 percent of whom are licensed, medical professionals)
  • 10,215 licensed medical professionals involved as pregnancy center workers (paid staff and volunteers combined)

Hmm. Doesn’t sound much like “fooling” to me. Rather, based on the data, this sounds like thousands of selfless men and women devoting time, helping those in need. They are sharing the truth about what happens in a woman’s body instead of spreading lies and misinformation across the nation.

And by the way, I’d really like to see what dictionary Mrs. Warren found her definition of “torture.” I wasn’t aware that unpaid volunteers who show love to mamas, gift them with supplies and resources, and help equip them to face parenting, were caught in the act of violence.

No, Mrs. Warren. These clinics are not “torturing” anyone. Rather, they are ministering to the needy. “Torture” is when educated individuals and politicians fool women into believing that the human inside their womb is “just” a clump of cells. It’s when they coerce women into believing that death is the best choice. But mostly, torture is pulling apart the limbs of a child and leaving a mother in a puddle of blood.

These volunteers are making the world a more beautiful place for families, mothers, and some of the sweetest babes around. Maybe you should join them, Mrs. Warren. I’ll pray that you do.

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
    they would outnumber the grains of sand—
    when I awake, I am still with you (Psalm 139:13-18).
