Shocking news from my local newspaper this morning …

Dear Faithful AFA Supporter and Friend,

As I write this letter, my local newspaper reports that a newborn baby was found a few days ago behind dumpsters in a mobile home park about 65 miles from my hometown. Two people have been taken into custody as part of an investigation. Thankfully, the baby is reported to be in good condition.

But that’s not how a similar situation ended in Indianapolis, Indiana, in December 2014. There, a 1-day-old baby girl was abandoned in a wooded area in Eagle Creek Park. The coroner could not determine a definitive cause of death because the infant had been partially eaten by wild animals.

Can you imagine anything more horrific?

But, there’s more to the story of the late baby girl who later became known as Amelia Hope Grace.

As our God declares in Romans 8:28, for those who love Him, He brings good out of every situation – even ones as tragic and heart-rending as this one.

And that’s the story behind the story I want to tell you in the newest episode the The Impact Series from American Family Studios, the filmmaking division of AFA.

The Monica Kelsey Story follows the life of a firefighter, medic, and pro-life activist from Indiana. On a trip to South Africa, Monica learned how a local church provided a “baby box” where mothers – for whatever reason – could safely surrender their newborns they felt they could not keep.

Inspired by such a compassionate, lifesaving idea, she sketched her first concept for a baby box on a Delta Air Lines napkin during her return trip to America.

With the tragic death of Amelia on her mind, Monica was even more resolved that no more babies would be abandoned in Indiana.

Today, Safe Haven Baby Boxes, the organization Monica founded, saves abandoned babies through electronically monitored boxes installed in fire stations and hospitals.

Monica’s story challenges all of us to use whatever means, resources, and talents God provides to bring light to the darkness that’s gripping our nation.

In appreciation for your generous gift, I want to send you The Monica Kelsey Story.

I believe our American Family Studios filmmakers have captured the heart of the “Baby Box Lady” and her passion for life from conception to natural death. This 25-minute documentary stands as a moving example of a Christian whose convictions turned into actions.

We all need to watch this film.

Use the enclosed gift slip and postage-paid envelope to request your DVD.

Our Impact Series consists of short stories of bold individuals who are determined to make a mark for God’s kingdom in our nation. We describe this series as “Influencing Culture, One Story at a Time.”

And, of course, that’s why AFA exists – to impact our nation for God’s glory. Our official stated mission is:

To inform, equip, and activate individuals and families to transform
American culture and to give aid to the church, here and abroad,
in its calling to fulfill the Great Commission.

When you watch The Monica Kelsey Story, I think you’ll agree that this new short documentary fulfills our mission.

I also hope that, through the film, you will catch a vision for the impact you can have in your community when you step out in faith.

For some, like Monica, that will mean protecting and championing the sanctity of human life. Others may rise to stand against the LGTBQ onslaught in our schools and workplaces, while some will become a voice for biblical principles in civic and political arenas or even in the entertainment industry.

Others may hear their call to pray faithfully or give generously to Christian ministries like AFA.

Last month, I wrote you about the passing of my dad, Don Wildmon, who founded AFA. I mentioned in that letter that we are working on a documentary about his life. We plan to release it in late 2024.

When asked what he hopes people take away from the documentary, M.D. Perkins, the film’s director, said this:

God has called us to bear witness to Him in this present evil age. He has called us to be faithful. The results of that faithfulness are in God’s hands. That’s what Don’s life symbolizes, and that’s the message that I hope viewers of the documentary will take with them.

What M.D. said about the upcoming documentary is also what I hope you take away from The Monica Kelsey Story as well as every other AFA resource.

Yes, God calls the church to preach the gospel
and teach the truth, but He also calls us to act!

And when you do, you can count on AFA to provide the resources, information, and encouragement you need to stay in the battle in your community.

Likewise, I’m counting on your prayers and gifts.

Now, let’s get to work,
