Several Democrat candidates have been making headlines lately for their bizarre behavior and comments. Jay Jones, the Democrat candidate for attorney general in Virginia, is facing heat. Leaked text messages show Jones fantasizing about murdering a former Republican state leader and his children. But no prominent Democrat or progressive group has withdrawn its endorsement of Jones.
Richard Ojeda, a Democrat congressional candidate, said he is willing to go to jail if he can “kick the s--- out of” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.
State Rep. Jolanda Jones, a Democrat congressional candidate, said she knows how to fight back because she is “from the hood.” She rejects Michelle Obama’s famous phrase, “When they go low, we go high.” Jones says, “I’m going to the gutter,” adding, “If you hit me in my face, I’m not going to punch you back in your face. I’m going to go across your neck.” She is talking about slashing people’s throats.
Beyond these Democrats, there have been many violent attacks by radical leftists in the past 12 months, including:
In fact, a recent study concluded that left-wing violence is at a 30-year high, even after excluding various acts of left-wing violence.
What is causing unhinged leftists to threaten and actually murder their political opponents? One possible explanation deserves extra attention: the prevalence of mental illness on the Left.
One 2020 study found:
“[L]iberals tended to report poorer mental health than conservatives. This trend was particularly pronounced for those . . . self-labeled as ‘extremely liberal,’ who tended to be noticeably worse off on several measures, not just compared to conservatives, but even compared to those identifying as ‘liberal’ or ‘slightly liberal.’”
Liberal data guru Nate Silver raised eyebrows with his analysis of the 2022 Cooperative Election Study (CES), which is based on a very large sample of 60,000 respondents.
The CES found that only 20% of self-identified liberals said they had “excellent” mental health compared to 51% of conservatives. The results were similar at the other end of the spectrum: 45% of liberals reported “poor” mental health compared to just 19% of conservatives.
Silver noted that on a scale of 0 to 100, with 0 as poor and 100 as excellent, the average American scored themselves at 60 in terms of mental health—in between “good” and “very good.” But liberal Gen Zers rated themselves at 40, compared to 56 for conservative Gen Zers.
Faith seems to play a big role in mental well-being. Liberals of any faith reported better mental health (61) compared to liberal atheists (48). But again, religious conservatives (69) outpaced religious liberals, as did conservative atheists (62) compared to liberal atheists.
Sexual orientation is a big indicator of mental health. Conservative heterosexuals scored 11 points higher than liberal heterosexuals—68 to 57. Conservative lesbians and gays (L&Gs) also scored 11 points higher than liberal L&Gs—60 to 49. It’s worth noting that in both cases, conservative and liberal heterosexuals reported better mental health than their homosexual counterparts.
But there was a 24-point difference among the other half of the alphabet people—bisexual, transgender, and queer: 59 for conservative BTQs compared to just 35 for liberal BTQs. That the 35 score for liberal BTQs was the lowest score of any demographic category.
This is a particularly relevant finding considering the growing threat of violence from transgender individuals, who are often suffering from multiple mental health issues, in addition to gender dysphoria.
A Kaiser Permanente study of medical records found that transgender youth “had 3 to 13 times the mental health conditions of their [heterosexual] counterparts.” It cannot help that these gender-confused youth are being pumped full of opposite sex hormones.
An analysis from the 2024 American Family Survey confirmed the link between ideology and mental well-being. By 3 to 1, conservative women said they were “completely satisfied with life” compared to liberal women. The survey also found liberal women more than twice as likely to say they “often felt lonely” compared to conservative women.
Knowing that liberals are generally miserable people with poor mental health, here’s where the “rubber meets the road.” A newly released survey conducted before and after Charlie Kirk’s assassination produced a clear portrait of those most supportive of political violence:
In every case, clear majorities of liberals supported damaging property and violence while conservatives did not.
Taken together, these surveys clearly demonstrate that those most likely to engage in political violence are college indoctrinated liberals, who we know are also more prone to be mentally unstable.
The connection to mental instability and violence is obvious. But when it comes to liberalism and mental illness, which comes first? Regardless, the connection goes a long way toward explaining many of the Left’s bizarre positions, including:
None of these left-wing ideas make any sense. They’re all insane!
So why would any rational voter trust unhinged, radical Left lunatics to run our government?
