Abortion, John Boehner, Convictions, & the Gospel

On the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade most of the major news outlets were covering so-called “deflate-gate”. On the same day an estimated 3,000 babies were murdered by a procedure called abortion. Abortion? The word abort is used to define an end to something. For example, a general in the military might say, “we are going to abort this mission”. For the past 42 years our country has been killing babies in the womb. Over 50 million lives have ended and Roe v. Wade set the stage for this atrocity. Abortion in America has accounted for the largest loss of human life in the history of the world yet on its anniversary all major news outlets were devoting hours of broadcast time discussing how much air was in a football during an NFL playoff game. Sad I know. Major news outlets such as Fox News, CNN, etc. need to get their priorities in the right order.

Secondly, John Boehner vowed to the Republican Party and its supporters that the new Congress would fight “tooth and nail” against Obama and his executive amnesty. The House passed a bill mid January that defunded Obama executive amnesty but the Senate has yet to vote on it and it is likely to die if it ever sees the Senate floor. This is why John Boehner should have scuffled with Obama when they were passing the budget deal in December. Conservatives want to see President Obama give up an ounce of his power and meet in the middle. Instead, Boehner and the Republicans give Obama his amnesty until late February. We all know that John Boehner knew before passing the budget that defunding amnesty through a House bill would never work. Here we are now, and amnesty is funded and there is little sign of “fighting tooth and nail” against King Obama.

Lastly, I have been rather surprised at the attention and flak some news outlets have given the American Family Association over its sponsorship of a prayer rally headed by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. Sponsoring a prayer rally is now up for criticism? The AFA has been promoting family and biblical values in America for almost four decades. Prayer and revival are two of the biblical values Christians have promoted for over 2,000 years and all of a sudden it’s a shock when AFA sponsors a prayer rally? Another fact that shouldn’t surprise anyone is that Christians hold tight to biblical principles and one of those principles is to oppose and repent from sinful behavior both in our personal lives and in the public square. But some media outlets are pulling their hair out that devout Christians oppose sinful behavior. Don’t be shocked. Devout Christians have held the same convictions for the past 2,000 years and that will not change.

I always like to end my blogs with one simple fact. The gospel of Jesus Christ can save anyone who repents from his or her sin and turns to Him for the forgiveness of sins. The Bible says, “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). May revival and repentance come across America in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
