How many persons, whose bodies lie in the grave today, once said “Someday I will give my life to Jesus and live for him.”?  Oh, how they wish that they could have one more day that would become that “someday.”

How many people have said that they would start eating healthy “someday”?  How many have stated passionately that they are going to start giving more to God, the church, and the work of the kingdom of God “someday”?  How many have made a firm commitment to go in their closet and start giving away clothes that they do not wear anymore to bless others “someday”?

Multitudes of people have said, “Someday I am going to start reading my Bible seriously."  And many of those same people also state “I am going to really get serious with my prayer life “someday.”

How many parents have said, “Someday I am going to start having my children read the Bible out loud daily”?  And how many parents have said, “I am going to start teaching my children how to pray every day. I am going to start praying for them every day. And I am going to start praying with them every day – someday”?

“Someday, I will start calling people on the phone to ask them 'How can I pray for you?'  Someday, I am going to start to faithfully share the Gospel daily.  “Someday, I am going to begin to disciple others in their faith and help them to grow stronger in the Lord.  I am genuinely going to do this someday.”

“Someday, I am going to call each member of my family, my parents, each of my brothers and sisters, and some other loved ones, and I am going to tell them that I love them, how much I appreciate them, and I am going to pray for them on the phone.  I am really going to do this – “someday.”

As hard as you and I look, none of us will ever find “Someday” on our calendar.  We must be wise enough, by the grace of God, to stop saying what we will do “someday.”  We have to decide that we will replace our “someday” with “today.”    There are so many ways that we can bless ourselves and others if we simply stop putting off the things that we know are so important in life.

It is in reading and meditating on the Word of God that we learn what is important in life and what is not.  The Bible teaches us not to put off important things that need to be done today.  In Proverbs 3:27, we are told “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so. Do not say to your neighbor, 'Go, and come back, and tomorrow I will give it,' when you have it with you.”

Today is a gift from God called the present.  Thank God that we have today.  The past is behind us, and the future has not arrived.  Yet, by the grace and goodness and lovingkindness of God, we have today.  Let’s be wise enough to start making “someday” today.
