Joseph Parker Dir. Outreach & Intercession/ Radio Host MORE

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers (Psalm 1:1-3).

Your Word is a Lamp to my feet and a Light to my path (Psalm 119:105).

The Bible is the best selling book in the world.  Its Author created the universe and knows and understands people better than anyone else.

Wise people will make reading God’s Word daily a high priority because the Word is a guidebook for everyone.

Just how long does it take the read the whole Bible through?

According to www.euxton.com/bible.htm, the following information tells about the average length of time it takes to read the Bible and given portions of the Word of God.

It takes approximately 70 hours and 40 minutes to read the Bible “at pulpit rate,” that is, out loud.   It takes approximately 52 hours and 20 minutes to read the Old Testament and approximately 18 hours and 20 minutes to read the New Testament.

The book of Psalms when read aloud will take approximately 4 hours and 28 minutes.  The Gospel of Luke can be read in about 2 hours and 43 minutes.

A person could read the whole Bible in a year if he or she read around 12 minutes a day.

Why is reading the whole Bible important?  It’s not a goal to pursue just so one can tell the world “I have read the whole Bible.”

Reading through all of God’s Word can be fruitful because you can read all the blessed counsel of God.  From Genesis to Revelation you can read and come to better understand what the Lord wants to say to His people.

We are reading through the whole Bible on the broadcast that I have the privilege of hosting.  The broadcast is the Hour of Intercession and it can be heard on American Family Radio.   In our program, we read the Word of God probably two or three days per week.  Some weeks more or less than others.

We still have guests and other programming on some of the other days, but certain days are specifically geared toward reading God’s Word.  And what a blessing it has been doing this.

If you would like to listen to the broadcast when we are reading the Word of God go to AFR.net on your computer and you can listen to the program from 3 to 4 A.M. CST.

Now for many people who do not usually find themselves up at that hour, you could listen to the podcasts.  Simply, find the website, click on podcasts, and scroll down until you see “The Hour of Intercession.”

The programs that include reading Scripture for most of the broadcast are entitled “Reading Through the Word of God.”

We hope that you can join us on this journey through God’s wonderful Word.
