I am very encouraged that some 10,000 of you have now registered on AFA's new streaming platform and watched our original, award-winning, feature-length documentary from American Family Studios titled, The God Who Speaks. Some of you may be asking, "Tim, why is this such a big deal?" Let me try to explain why.
American Family Association exists to inform, equip, and activate individuals and families to transform American culture and to give aid to the church, here and abroad, in its calling to fulfill the Great Commission.
Because of this mission, AFA spends a lot of time speaking about the cultural and political issues of our day. We strive to bring biblical truth and a Christian worldview to bear on the chaos that exists all around us. Nevertheless, we want you to be clear that the bedrock truth of God’s holy and inerrant Word is at the center of all that we say and do as a ministry. In fact, that was the motivation of AFA’s founder and my dad, Don Wildmon, when he began this ministry in 1977.
Dad saw the connection between biblical truth and action when he said: "We must, in our churches, do a better job teaching and preaching the fundamentals of the faith. Certainly, we cannot stop with the fundamentals, but neither can we ignore them as we have for the past several decades. In many of our churches, people are biblically illiterate. There must be a deeper awareness of and a recommitment to our faith. In the course of it all, lines will have to be drawn."
He went on to say, "We have tried to be inclusive in our faith (and we should have); now we will have to be exclusive. Not every idea or philosophy which comes along is compatible with the Christian view of man. We must reassert our faith in the marketplace and in daily living. This will need to be done not in an arrogant or offensive manner, but with love and meekness. We must not, however, confuse love and meekness with weakness."
What motivated my dad years ago continues today at AFA. This is precisely why I make such a "big deal" over the 10,000 of you who have watched The God Who Speaks! If you haven't watched it, I urge you to do so today and become better equipped to answer crucial questions regarding the reliability and authority of God's Word. Please watch it and then share it with your family, friends, and your church.
