A Path of Compassion

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land” (Jeremiah 29:11-14 NLT).

As followers of Christ, we don't always know what God wants us to do in this world. We don't see the big picture. Many times, we ask God to show us what He wants us to do. We can't understand why He is letting us go to places where we experience struggle, doubt, and fear.

I just read a related devotion. It states we can't know God's will for us because we can't handle that knowledge. Through God's compassion and mercy, He gives us the strength to handle the steps in front of us when we abide in Him.

God has a plan for each of us. He carves a path for us and teaches us what we need to know and experience in order for Him to use us for His glory.

We must abide in Him and concentrate on doing what we are called to do that day. We must pray He will continue to work in our lives so that we might reach the goal set before us.

Following Christ is not easy. This path has many trials and tribulations. The walk can be treacherous and humbling. But we are to remain faithful and keep putting one foot in front of the other so we can finish the race. God will never leave us and He is always working for good in and through our lives.

Lord God, let us be willing to follow your roadway for life. Help us to be strong in faith and relentless in pursuit of you. We pray in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus. Amen.

Tuesday

The World or Heaven

No one can comprehend the height of heaven, the depth of the earth,
or all that goes on in the king’s mind! (Proverbs 25:3 NLT).

We have no idea of how wonderful heaven will be, nor the depths of evil in this world. We also don't understand God's plan. We can be certain when we trust in Him, everything turns out well.

Dear Lord, help us to stop living a life that resembles hell and begin living a life that is heaven-bound. We ask in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus. Amen.

Wednesday

Worrying Solves Nothing

So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today (Matthew 6:27, 34 NLT).

Stop worrying! It will never help any situation. It can only create more problems and frustrations. Can all your worries add a single moment to your life or change a single thing?

Dear Lord, we lay our trials, troubles, and tribulations at your feet. Take them Lord and do what you will. We pray for peace and comfort wherever you lead us. In Jesus' mighty name, we ask and pray. Amen.

Thursday

Abundant Life

You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it (Matthew 7:13, 14 NLT).

Are you looking for an abundant life? A life worth living? A life of peace knowing God has your hand and is leading you down the right path? Accept Jesus as your King and follow him into that life that also includes life everlasting.

It is not always an easy path, but it's a path that you will never regret taking. Many will miss the chance by thinking, "Hey, I got plenty of time. I'm going to do what I want for now and then turn back to God.”

Folks, you have no idea when you will take your last breath. Isn't now the time to accept Jesus?

Think about it. Don't make an eternal mistake.

Father God, thank you for your Son and the fact that He laid down His life for all of us. I pray that many people will turn to Jesus, repent and claim you as God. Thank you, Father, for your love, mercy, and grace. Help us to re-live your grace on a daily basis. We ask and pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Friday

Forgiven

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners (Romans 5:6 NLT).

Thank you, Jesus! Amen!

Saturday

Faith and Trust

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see (Hebrews 11:1 NLT).

Faith – (defined) complete confidence or trust in someone or something.

I can't help you with this. Our faith is a personal walk with God and that He is God.

Faith is putting our trust and hope in God. Stepping out on faith can be a scary thing. God is the great “I Am,” and He is our God. He will never leave us or forsake us.

Lord God, thank you for loving us when we are so unlovable. Thank you for not giving up on any of us. Thank you, Lord, for your love, mercy, and grace. Thank you for coming to us as we are and not leaving us as we are. We praise you, Lord! Amen.

Sunday

We Win Through Christ

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil (Ephesians 6:11 NLT).

Put on the armor of God and watch your six. It's about to get interesting in this broken world.

The longer we suppress truth and glorify wrong, the more ground Satan gains. God won’t let this go on forever. Armor up!

Dear Lord, we have read your Word, the Bible, and we know you win. Help us stand firm in your truth and glory. Amen.
