Information – it’s all over the place. Social media, news, T.V., cell phones, radio, etc. We seem to crave information. We want to be informed. Inquiring minds want to know (just plain nosy). We want to know what’s going on all the time and everywhere. And in today’s world, nearly all the information we can imagine is at our fingertips. It begs the question – What do we need to know?

In our finite existence, there is a limit to what we can know, process, and comprehend. Yet we still seem to think that we must have any and all the information we want about the world we live in and the people who inhabit it.

Society puts great value on education. To be educated is to be equipped with information that can help us to be successful in life. People, families, and whole communities spend huge amounts of money on “education.” Yet even education, as the world defines it, is no guarantee of success in life. Again, the question that needs to be asked is – What do we need to know?

We need to know truth and how to use it (which is called wisdom). Truth and wisdom are information and knowledge that leads to transformation for our good. It is knowledge that touches us and changes us. It is life-changing insight that affects our entire being, not just our mind. Truth and wisdom – are Jesus Christ.

Too many people are drowning in information, yet are starving for truth and wisdom. There is a great need to turn off some of our many WMDs (weapons of mass distraction) and purposely pursue the most important knowledge there is. We need to get into the Word of God. There we can and will find the wisdom, truth, and knowledge that we need to live a genuinely successful life. It is in the Word of God where we find Jesus Christ. It is in the Word of God that we find out what is true and what is a lie. It is in the Word of God that we learn what battles we must fight in life. And it is in the Word of God that we learn what our priorities should be (see Luke10:38-42).

We need to read the Word of God daily and give much consideration to what we have read. Psalm 119:105 tells us “Your Word is a Lamp to my feet and a Light to my path.” Knowing God and living faithfully in His Word is what we needWe need to know God. We NEED to know the Word of God – which is the will of God. We need to know Jesus Christ and live for Him. He is what life is all about.
