The Master Artist and His Handiwork

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.  And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day (Genesis 1:1-8).

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat (Psalm 19:1–4).

God our heavenly Father is the greatest artist in the universe. He creates expansive and massive exhibits of art every single day literally, not only throughout the world, but throughout the universe.

Some of God’s many canvasses include the morning, afternoon, and evening skies. The landscapes of our world – the meadows, the hills, valleys, and mountains.

Every day is a brand-new work of art that is beautiful, magnificent, and spectacular – all at once.

We need to be wise and faithful enough to take time to notice, observe, and worship God for the beauty and brilliance of each new day.

Sadly, some people’s reaction to thoughts such as these may be “Who really cares about what the world we live in looks like. I have more important things to do than look at nature.” The truth is, it’s that individual’s loss. We are blessed and strengthened as we take time to observe the beauty and magnificence of the absolute brilliance of God’s creation all around us.

Taking time to observe, enjoy, and appreciate the beauty of God’s handiwork can lead to finding more enjoyment in life. Thank you Father for the beautiful world you have made and that you allow us to observe and appreciate every single day.

When we take time to worship and thank God for His beautiful creation, life can become so much richer and fuller.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre. For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy (Psalm 92:1–4).
