While saving their babies, moms often gain new life as well.

January is "Sanctity of Human Life Month" – something that pro-life ministries celebrate year-round. Statistics indicate, however, that one particular ministry gets to celebrate the sanctity of life literally every day of the year.

Saving lives of preborn babies is the purpose of an organization called Pre-Born! – and its mission is to glorify Christ by equipping pro-life pregnancy centers with the resources needed to do that … and to save souls in the process. According to ministry president Dan Steiner, both efforts brought notable success over the past year.

The ministry claims more than 7,000 women made commitments to Christ in 2019 – and followed that with over 6,500 women in 2020. "They came into our clinics wanting abortions – and they went out Christians," Steiner exclaims.

Outside of prayer, the key to Pre-Born's success in saving babies is the effectiveness of ultrasounds, which allow a pregnant woman to see an image of her baby and hear her child's heartbeat – at which point she recognizes there's a human life in her womb. The impact of that, the ministry reports, is undeniable.

"Statistics [show] 40% of abortion-minded women chose life without an ultrasound; 80% of abortion-minded women chose life with an ultrasound," notes the ministry website. "An ultrasound machine doubles the effectiveness of saving a life."

Pre-Born! is partnering this week with American Family Radio to underwrite ultrasound sessions for young moms and provide pregnancy centers with cash grants for new and reconditioned ultrasound machines. According to Steiner, the partnership with AFR over the years has resulted in more than 31,000 women choosing life for their babies.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a presidential proclamation designating every third Sunday in January as National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. This year that falls on Sunday, January 17th.
