It's more than the brand or aesthetic of their clothing no matter what social media tells you.

It's more than whether or not their food is store-bought or homemade.

It's more than screentime debates.

It's more than the brand of car seat or stroller they ride around in.

It's more than Montessori toys vs. the loud ones that light up.

It's more than the theme of a birthday party or who shows up.

It's more than teaching them to keep their eye on a ball or where their hands go on a bat.

It's more than where they go to school and on what scholarship.

It's more. It's so much more.

And it's the most terrifyingly important thing I’ve ever been privileged to do.

Mamas, we're not just taking care of babies. We're not just raising boys, we're making men.

A prayer for us today:

Lord, capture the attention of our babies. Captivate them even now. Even before they can speak. While the world is still new and coming to life in their tiny, twinkly eyes. May their little souls echo eternity & the songs You sang over them in the secret places.

Thank you, Jesus, for seeing fit to entrust us to raise these boys into the husbands who will one day be entrusted with the heart of another mama's baby girl. Teach us, equip us, and allow us to be the wives to their daddies who leave behind legacies worth following and standards worth keeping.

Father, may our homes prepare them. May the words that escape our lips glorify you, may the essence of our character reflect yours, may the way we treat strangers in a grocery store, our attitude while we're cooking dinner, every piece of laundry we fold, every countertop we wipe down, every diaper we change, every bottle we make point them in the direction of heaven.

When they realize the world thinks they're weird, let them laugh.

When they leave us, Lord, let them be ready.

It's more. It's so much more. It's ALL about you, Jesus.

- A mommy who is learning too.

Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them (Psalm 127:3-5).
