Disney-ABC Glorifying Anti-Christian Bully Dan Savage in New Sitcom

TUPELO, Miss.—American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) is joining the Media Research Center and Family Research Council to bring attention to a planned sitcom from Disney-ABC glorifying anti-Christian bully Dan Savage.

“Disney-ABC, which supposedly prides itself on family programming, is moving ahead with a sitcom featuring Dan Savage, one of the cruelest, most vile political activists in America,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “Loosely based on Savage’s life, ‘The Real O’Neals’ will glorify and highlight an anti-Christian bully who has nothing but disrespect for Christians and Christian principles. Savage has spared no one with whom he disagrees from his vitriolic hate speech.”

A perusal of Savage’s work reveals a career built on advocating violence and spewing hatred against people of faith. Late last week, AFA sent an Action Alert to its one million friends and supporters, urging them to learn more about Disney-ABC’s plans to feature Savage and take action. In the alert, AFA shares a video montage from the Family Research Council with some of Savage’s hateful attitudes and words.

OneMillionMoms.com, a division of AFA, also shared its own alert with its readers. Said OneMillionMoms Director Monica Cole, “Despite Savage’s extremism, vulgarity and unabashed encouragement of dangerous sexual practices, Disney-ABC is planning to feature a man who has done nothing but bash Christians and bash the Bible. Enough is enough, and parents must stand up to Disney and ABC and tell them their kids will not be subject to an anti-Christian bully.”

In 2012, at a National High School Journalism Convention, students streamed out of an auditorium where Savage slammed the Bible, stating, among other things, that “we can learn to ignore the bull**** in the Bible about gay people.”

AFA and OneMillionMoms are urging those concerned to take action in the following ways:

• Sign the petition to Disney-ABC, urging them to immediately cancel plans to air “The Real O’Neals.”
• Call Disney-ABC President Ben Sherwood at (877) 660-5301 and urge him to cancel the pilot sitcom based on Savage’s life.
