‘The Last Full Measure of Devotion’
TUPELO, Miss.—For many, Memorial Day means a long weekend, time outdoors with family and friends, and the official start of summer. But American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) is reminding all Americans to remember the true significance of this meaningful holiday—to pay tribute to those who gave their lives as the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
“Memorial Day is a time to reflect, honor and be immensely thankful for all those throughout our nation’s history who have laid down their lives for our freedoms,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “Sadly, too many Americans are willing to cede these freedoms to the tyranny of political correctness. But we must never forget that someone paid the ultimate price for the liberties Americans are so easily discarding—including freedom of religion and freedom of speech.
“Let’s not allow the sacrifices of those who fought and died for our freedoms to be made in vain,” Wildmon continued. “Our liberties are soaked in the blood of patriots who willingly said, ‘I will exchange my life for another’s freedom.’ May Memorial Day be a time when we honor their sacrifice through continuing the fight so many before us began and rededicating ourselves to protect our freedoms and rights.”
