American Family Association: Contact Senators to Save Babies' Lives

TUPELO, Miss.—Last Friday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 241 to 187 to temporarily suspend federal funding to Planned Parenthood, pending an investigation into disturbing practices revealed in 10 undercover videos.

Now, American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) is urging the U.S. Senate to follow suit, and is encouraging Americans to call their senators about defunding more than $500 million in taxpayer dollars to the abortion giant.

"If senators receive just 15 phone calls on a single issue from voters in their state, it gets their attention very quickly," said AFA President Tim Wildmon. "That's because a phone call represents a very genuine concern from a very genuine person. And, a single phone call represents dozens more people who didn't call, but feel the same way on an issue. That's why it is so important for all of us to call our senators, urging them to defund Planned Parenthood.

"Planned Parenthood gets $1.5 million every day from the federal government," Wildmon continued. "That's over one-half-billion dollars a year to support its grisly practice of dismembering, trading and selling real-life human babies, which has been detailed in a series of 10 gruesome exposé videos. It's time to stop Planned Parenthood's barbaric practices."

AFA is suggesting several ways to take action:

1.      BE EDUCATED: Congress must completely defund Planned Parenthood in "must pass" legislation, AFA reported in its Action Alert. This comes in the form of an upcoming continuing resolution of the federal budget with a Sept. 30 deadline. In a nutshell, this legislation will force every single elected official to show where they stand on Planned Parenthood.

2.      CALL: AFA is encouraging Americans to call both of their senators today and urge them to support the defunding of Planned Parenthood in a continuing resolution.
